Team Dad Seminole County We offer education, training, & support to help men become responsible, engaged, & empowered fathers

Many new fathers struggle to figure out their role when their wife or partner has a baby. Our new fatherhood program offers education, training, and support to help men become the responsible, engaged, and empowered fathers their children need them to be.

All babies cry. Sometimes they cry for longer and harder than we expect.

When the crying feels overwhelming, remember that it’s okay to take a break.

Place your baby on their back in a safe sleep space and step away for a few minutes to breathe and reset.

You are not leaving your baby alone. You are giving yourself a safe moment to calm yourself and return confidently.

The Period of PURPLE Crying describes a normal period of increased crying in early infancy.

PURPLE stands for:
Peak of crying - Typically peaks around 2 months.
Unexpected - Crying can come and go for no apparent reason.
Resists soothing - Infant may not stop crying, no matter what you try.
Pain-like face - Infant may look like they are in pain, even when they are not.
Long lasting - Crying can last for 5 hours a day or more.
Evening - Infant may cry more in the late afternoon and evening.

When the crying feels overwhelming, place your baby on their back in a safe sleep space and take a guilt free break. This gives your baby a safe space to be while you take a moment to care for yourself.

Infants cannot always move away when something blocks their breathing.

Soft bedding, pillows, blankets, toys, positioners, and other added products can cover a baby’s face or trap them against a sleep surface. Adult beds, couches, and chairs also create serious suffocation and entrapment risks.

For every sleep, place baby alone, on their back, in a safety-approved crib, bassinet, or play yard with a firm, flat mattress and fitted sheet. Nothing else should be in the sleep space.

A clear sleep space helps protect baby from accidental suffocation.

🚨Watch Out for Look-Alike Alcoholic Drinks This Memorial Day Weekend 🚨

As we head into Memorial Day weekend with family, friends, and cookouts, here’s an important reminder to check your coolers and fridges carefully—especially if children are around.
Many alcoholic beverages now look nearly identical to popular kids’ drinks like:

With similar packaging, bright colors, and familiar logos, it’s easy for a child to mistake an alcoholic drink for their favorite juice or soda. This can lead to accidental alcohol poisoning—especially in young kids whose bodies can't process alcohol the same way.

Tips to keep kids safe:
✅ Keep alcoholic drinks in a separate cooler or out of reach
✅ Don’t assume “it’s obvious” which drinks have alcohol
✅ Read labels carefully before handing any drink to a child
✅ Talk to older kids and teens about the risks

If you suspect a child has accidentally consumed alcohol, call Poison Help right away at 1-800-222-1222. We are available 24/7 for fast, free and confidential care.

Let’s celebrate safely. A few extra seconds of caution can prevent a life-threatening mistake.
