Central Florida Anthropological Society CFAS is a non-profit working to promote anthropology & archaeology & history in Central FL & beyond! CFAS is a chapter of the Florida Anthropological Society.

The Central Florida Anthropological Society represents Lake, Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties. CFAS was established in 1963 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the appreciation, study, and preservation of Florida's pre-Columbian, historic, and contemporary cultural heritage. Our membership is open to people of all ages and backgrounds, including students, professionals, volunteers and

the community-at-large. The Central Florida Anthropological Society represents Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties.

🔎ASK AN ARCHAEOLOGIST EVENT: March is Florida Archaeology Month!

Dig into the truth about Florida’s past through artifacts, records, and conversations with guest speakers from Rollins College and the Central Florida Anthropological Society. Attendees can also enjoy a topical lecture and conclude the event with a Q&A with local archaeologists following the presentation.

It was a great day at Page Jackson Cemetery in Sanford where volunteers from the Society for Historic Casselberry popped in to learn about how ground penetrating radar scans are taken in the field by archeologists. Check out the video below to give you an idea of what we're talking about. Thanks to staff from Florida Public Archaeology Network - Northeast & East Central Regions for the quick tutorial and a big thank you to the Central Florida Cemetery Project for the invite & amazingly fun opportunity!

We want to thank all the people and institutions who helped make Archaeology in Seminole County Day 2024 possible this year. The celebration cane together over the span of only a few months. It was nobeasy feat given the fact it spanned 4 separate events at 4 locations over the course of 10 hours. Thank you to all our guesrs, participants, volunteers, host institutions, and sponsors. We couldn't have done it without you. Happy FL Archaeology Month!

Please join us as we finish up the day and our celebration of Archaeology in Seminole County Day 2024 by joining us for a guest lecture at the North Branch- Seminole County Public Library in downtown Sanford. Beginning at 6pm, staff from Florida Public Archaeology Network - Northeast & East Central Regions will be giving a talk on Florida's First People followed by a brief Q&A session. Free and open to the public!

Need to grab a late afternoon snack? Consider joining us for a reception in honor of Archaeology in Seminole County Day at the Sanford Museum beginning at 4pm. The museum will be open and available to tour and staff will be present to answer questions. Visit and chat with local experts in history, archaeology, preservation, and cultural resource management. Snacks and nonalcoholic beverages will be provided. Free and open to the public.
