Harnett County Buddy Backpack

Last week, Pastor Paul from Union Methodist Church visited us at the Buddy Backpack building. He so kindly presented us a check from his congregation to purchase food for the children of our community. During our visit, we went over the logistics of Buddy Backpack, how many children are served weekly, and ended in a heartfelt prayer for our community and Buddy Backpack’s mission. Donations like these are quite literally how we continue our work. Thank you to the congregation of Union Methodist Church for helping to keep the children of our community fed on the weekends!

We could NOT pack, deliver and all the in between without our wonderful volunteers every Friday! If you are looking for a place to give back and volunteer we are at our packing building every Friday morning at 9am. Thank you Western Harnett Lions Club for always showing up for Buddy Backpack!

The BCA Foundation has helped Buddy Backpack sustain and continue our mission here in Western Harnett County. We are so grateful!!

The BCA Foundation supports the local community in many different ways. Recently, a generous cash donation was made to the Harnett County BUDDY BACKPACKS program. Eleven schools participate in this program. Volunteers provide all the labor to make this happen.

Every weekend, this organization sends home backpacks containing food to students at risk. Over five hundred children per week are recipients. Most are also eligible for free or reduced meal plans throughout the week.

This is another way the BCA Foundation gives back to the community.

Please spread the word!

We are in need of turkeys, turkey breast, and spiral hams for Thanksgiving!

We are currently seeing around 650 families and only have about 100 of those families covered this holiday so far!

Please if you’re able donate!

We will be collecting them at the pantry:
Monday 9am-4pm
Wednesday 9am-3pm
Friday 9am-3pm

Since we have so many families in need we have decided to hold a turkey lottery any existing clients can sign up and we will draw names and distribute turkeys accordingly! It’s only 1 entry per family you may enter during your normal pick up time this coming up week!!

This was the fairest way we could think to give everyone a shot this year!! ♥️

We will also be distributing Thanksgiving Meal Staples the next few weeks as they become available!

Last week, we were so Blessed to have this energetic, hardworking Girl Scout group volunteer. They showed up ready to work and help pack 528 bags for the week. We are so grateful for their help!❤️💙❤️💙

Go support this outreach if you can! They serve 500 plates or more every Wednesday to the Johnsonville and surrounding communities. Your donation will allow them to continue to feed those in need. The Food is delicious too!

We will be serving fish this Saturday to help raise money for our Outreach Program. Please come and get some delicious fish! We need your support to continue our Free Lunch Program on Wednesdays.

If you have any extra canned goods sitting in your pantry, consider taking it over to our friends at Five N Two Food Pantry. They help feed many people in our community, weekly. Any amount helps!!!

We are so thankful for the 11 amazing volunteers who came out today and helped sort through 1,559 pounds of produce, bakery, and deli items donated from our local grocery partners. Because of their hard work and dedication, we were able to help feed 122 families today! 🙌🍞🥦

However, our shelves are running very low on non-perishable items such as canned goods and dry goods. These items are crucial to ensuring families have balanced meals.
