Wow another year since our Most Precious Most Kind Lama Zopa Rinpoche manifested leaving his body.

What an amazing final teaching - Our Most Gone Beyond Super Virtuous Friend could not have cared less (cause he did not care at all) about the superficial surface tension of life’s mere affairs.

Why don’t we repay Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s Great Kindness by following his advice by not getting caught by the surface waves of samsara - and instead join him in the vast and profound depths of the❤️Ocean of Bliss and Joy where the two truths arise 🌈harmoniously all the time!

So Much Benefit for ourselves and others - when we make that ❤️Ocean our home🙏🏽

Thank You Wish Fulfilling Temple at LMB for the Great Kindness of offering Jangwa for beloved departed ones ashes 🙏🏽 this recent April 5th.

Due to this sacred service, we are able to cultivate our Memorial Grove here at LCA following the advice of our teachers that have stated how important Jangwa ceremony is before placing our loved ones remains in urns, stupas, and other consecrated places.

Here’s a few photos of the recent super blessed event that actually celebrates the 30th year that the Wish Fulfilling temple has been offering Jangwa following the guidance of Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

It was actually Lama Zopa Rinpoche that led the first Jangwa in 1997 and urged Angela Wang and others present - to do every year 🙏🏽 at the Wish Fulfilling Temple.

And every it has been done - Thank you so much Wish FulFilling Temple and LMB!

Blessed Bodhi❤️Losar everyone!

At LCA we are celebrating our 5 of 6 filled long term retreat Yogi Cabins - as well as our 3 semi service and retreat cabins filled with very very essential helpful Land Caretaker Yogis!

This year we are now super blessed to have the return of one of our star Caretakers of the past Walid - who knows all land stuff and can fix practically anything!

There will be some follow up hotos of him after fixing our essential winter/spring vehicle that just broke a spring strut out here ! I literally don’t know how we would have fixed it back here without him.

Though even Walid has said our 20yr atv and chainsaw are on their last legs (not in our budget - if anyone can help - please contact me at [email protected] or donate at www.landofcalmabiding.org/donate )

And now that Sean, a caretaker veteran from Vajrapani and LMB, is here - my body suffers much less from the heavy 6 mile road maintenance! Now I walk/drive past road problems (trees/landslides) after already being cleared. Hooray 🙌🏼

Such an honor here serving the spirit of Awakening for All Beings. Now with more help and more full Big❤️BodhiYogi cabins!

Just now coming to the finish line for winter preparation with last propane trip on tomorrow before our road washes out again till next summer!

We literally could not pay for the propane and other bills that take care of our 5-8 yogis during the year if not for the monthly/yearly offerings from our Sustaining Members - So So Kind - All of our Yogis’ Big❤️ Cultivation is always shared with you🙏🏽

So it has been a wild preparation for winter without much labor help this year. Slowly slowly trimming vegetation and clearing debris along our 6.5 mile rugged dirt driveway that rises 2,100ft in elevation before dropping around 1800ft.

Pausing to sit with my daily practice with the Most Amazing spacious views - always a most precious gift to rejuvenate.

Speaking of most precious gifts - Shinay Land has become the recipient of some super sacred statues filled by the previous Ribur Rinpoche whom we are holding them for should his current manifestation come back to California or ever benefit from them somewhere else.

The previous Ribur Rinpoche upon visiting Shinay Land is well known to have said, “One day this place will be one of the most important places for Dharma” - Presumably this means this is one of the places in the world where genuine everlasting Ultimate Bodhichitta realizations will develop for Yogis 🙏🏽

So yeah - these holy statues from Ribur Rinpoche also really add to the sacred setting for daily routines. 🙏🏽

Welcome 🙏🏽 Light of Ksitigarbha!

When Lama Zopa Rinpoche came with Khadro-la to visit us in 2013, our Most Kind Virtous Friend said it would be good for Shinay Land to have a life-size statue of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha to bless the land and its inhabitants.

As of this past week this holy wish has finally been realized!

On this past auspicious anniversary of Chohkor Duchen, Shakyamuni Buddha’s 1st Turning of the Wheel of Dharma, we were honored to receive the incredible gift of the Bodhi inspiring statue Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha from our friends at Light of Ksitigarbha !

Since we were pressed with the difficult task of finding the local friends and vehicles needed to bring in this 2700 lb Bodhi Blessed package on our 6.5 mile steep, switch back, rocky dirt road - Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha’s Bodhichitta emanating statue had to wait on the coast a couple days. And bless our Hwy 1 and its many travelers.

Fortunately due to amazing local heroes and their machines surfacing from the seemingly out of the blue - this Holy Bodhi Statue made its way safely to its resting place in our Stupa Memorial Grove 🙏🏽.

This completes the first of many projects to be completed for our 2025/2026 LCA development plan - that was birthed from the recent CPMT meeting in Nepal and the great kindness from a sponsor who has offered a one-time 30k matching grant to help us grow into a more easily sustainable Bodhisattva inspired hermitage that can host more truly aspiring yogis.

So far as of this week we have raised $4500 towards this matching grant, which has allowed us to allocate 9k to the delivery and placement of this Bodhi emanating holy statue as well as : finishing the repair of our road, Stupa meadow erosion control, and starting the glorious task of developing fancy canvas tent sites with full amenities for retreat during the summer and fall months.

So many fun photos to follow regarding the additional fancy canvas tent retreat sites. We have so much amazing wilderness room to Bloom out here !

And since currently the start of our upcoming 2026 season has all our 6 long term retreat cabins booked - we are going to need more retreat space for yogis !

How Auspicious! After returning from Nepal with being inspired to plant more Bodhi seed projects for more Bodhi fruit meditators to come . . . I returned to find a fruit tree I’ve never seen fruit since my first year here in 2009. It’s an apricot tree!

The seed to fruit anology was one used by our generous matching grant donor that is (in conjuction with our sponsor community), enabling us to host more solo retreaters and intimate group retreats in the summer/fall months with Glamping retreat sites and fixing up the future Lama room/bathroom and the Zopa Main House.

This new development will in no way interfere with our very dedicated 6 long term retreat cabins on the other side of this 525 acre wilderness property.

Our matching grant donor has pledged the matching grant up to 30k and we’ve raised just over 2k thus far the past few weeks.

Wow Thank you everyone that helped me travel to this most precious place of pilgrimage with the crucial importance of benefiting Land of Calm Abiding.

The CPMT meeting was absolutely essential for networking the success of our center’s future - not to mention our global FPMT mandala as a whole. And the subsequent retreat and pilgrimage have further enhanced the spread of Land of Calm Abiding’s message that blessed hermitages like ours are indispensable for the survival of Dharma in this difficult time.

There is now added interest and resources that will foster more meditators and teachers to come to our rare hidden land where genuine realizations on the Path of Awakening for all beings are cultivated.

One such resource will be 8 added private campsite retreat sites that can be utilized during the Summer and Fall months.

Such an honor to feel dear Lama Zopa’s vision being realized while I’m basking in the Bodhichitta Blessings in Lawudo.

Blessed merit-multiplying Days of Miracles everyone! I am personally filled with so much gratitude during these Days of Miracles, for the miracle of all of the support for helping this little Dharma Bum to make it to Nepal in April for the very special international CPMT meeting at Kopan. Thank you to everyone that donated towards making this trip possible for me! So very kind.

Also I’ve received just enough extra funds to also offer the Wheel of Sharp Weapons retreat to our most amazing Volunteer Extraordinaire Board Member, Ryan McCarthy. Even just this year so far, Ryan has gone above and beyond to help with the most confusing issues of our failed bookkeeping system of Quickbooks. Intuit not so intuitive heh! As a result of Ryan’s patience and dedication, we now have new bookkeeping systems in place that are removing the old confusing obstacles.

While both Ryan and I are in Kopan, we look forward to the incredible opportunity to network with our global FPMT Mandala in order to expand the inspiration for our fellow Dharma siblings to abide in solitary retreat. How else will we experience the fruition of irreversible realizations on the Path for All Beings?

While being gone for most of April and May, Land of Calm Aiding will be held quite confidently by primarily my dear Dharma Brother Jordan whom already has all the experience of maintaining things here. And when Jordan is not engaged in caretaker duties, he is consistently diving into his own studies and meditation. Jordan might call himself a "baby Buddhist" for only semi-recently immersing himself in daily Dharma practice, but his inspiration is so strong there must be incredible momentum of past imprints behind him. It is sincerely such a joy to watch Jordan’s insatiable appetite for reading and listening to Dharma teachings, contemplating them so enthusiastically, and meditating with his findings.

Currently we have four dedicated monastics abiding in long retreat, and we have four more lay practitioners arriving this summer and fall. Starting from this coming October till June of 2026, we will actually have all of our cabins filled with long term retreaters! Definitely a reason to Rejoice! May all the conditions ripen for all of us to abide in long retreat where we can fully assimilate the essence of the Dharma into the marrow of our being for all mothers throughout samsara. Where not one being is left behind!
