FurEver Animal Rescue is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping defenseless animals who have been abused, neglected or orphaned get a new home and a second chance at happiness. Our furry friends come to us from various shelters, owner surrenders, local hospitals or are dropped at our doorstep. We are devoted to evaluating each as an individual and designing a care plan to meet the

ir physical, behavioral and medical needs. We provide compassionate, state of the art medical care to the sick, injured and abused as well as routine spaying/neutering, vaccinations and testing.

Meet Josie who’s a compact 40 pound pitty girl looking for a Hail Mary! This sweet girl has become a shelter favorite with volunteers and staff, she’s friendly with everyone she meets, participates in playgroups and overall a wonderful young girl! Unfortunately she has hit her threshold of kennel life and is now self harming in her kennel and must exit the shelter today and will not be given any extension due to mental decline, she WILL BE HUMANLY EUTHANIZE today.

Available for adoption at Contra Costa Animal Shelter.

This is a sad reminder to keep our fur children in the house during 4th of July and no, that doesn’t mean just that day/evening! Several days leading up to the 4th and for at least 2 days post 4th because some community members are unaware or frankly don’t care if they spook your precious family member!

Now is also the time to make sure all your pets have their collars with readable identification on them and updated microchip information, if your pet is not microchipped please stop by your local shelter, vaccine clinic or your primary vets office to have one implanted, it’s their ticket home 🐾

Meet DJ!

This handsome boy was saved from euthanasia at our local shelter because he was extremely shut down and it would seem he had not been exposed to the ‘normal’ dog life! When he was picked up from the shelter he didn't know how to walk on a leash, didn't know what a car or crate was and took us almost 2 hours to convince him his world would make a 360 degree turn, if only he would get in the darn car with us!

Well let's fast forward a couple months and this boy has blossomed into the most amazing love bug anyone could ask for! DJ LOVES snuggling with his humans, going for walks, is completely crate trained and knows basic obedience and happens to be one of the quickest learners…helps if you have cookies. This big lughead is looking for a family to call his own that will love and cherish his silly antics, promise to never abandon him and allow him to be the king of the house.

DJ is a 1-2 year chesapeake retriever and american bulldog mix, that is neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. At this time DJ is looking to be the soul kiddo in the home.
