Hello from the Mickaboo Ringneck Coordinator. I want to share some positive news (don't we all need it).
In March, we were able to place two lovely female ringnecks with foster homes. Kiwi is a recent intake who could go to a foster home right away. Pauline had to wait for a little bit longer after her treatment at the bird hospital. She had a beak and tongue injury that is all healed up now. She went to her foster home last week.
Adam, a beautiful blue male ringneck, found an adopter and went to his new home on Sunday. He came to Mickaboo with a broken leg. Our avian vet did her magic and it has healed so nicely that you wouldn't even know he had this injury. He is one of the friendliest ringnecks I have ever met. He loves to sit on shoulders, whistle, and even whisper.
Many thanks to the volunteers who helped with transportation of birds and cages, and to the fosters and adopters. Each intake and placement took several visits, phone calls, coordination, transportation, and ongoing advice. That's what we do because we all love our birds. Yes, it takes a village. And what a great Mickaboo village we have.
That said, Kiwi and Pauline are still looking for a forever home. And so do other ringnecks and many other Mickaboo birds.
