🚨 URGENT FOSTER or RESCUE NEEDED FOR ZAZA by 5PM, June 19th🚨

Zaza's story began with heartbreak. On 5/10/26, she was found on the side of a freeway after reports that she may have either jumped from or been pushed from a moving vehicle. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan stopped and got her to safety.
Despite everything she has endured, Zaza remains incredibly sweet, outgoing, and full of life. She loves everyone she meets and has been friendly and appropriate with both large and small dogs.

Staff noticed that Zaza was favoring her right rear leg. While she initially would not bear weight on it, she is now walking on it, though she still has a limp. Recent x-rays revealed a pelvic fracture, and she will need additional diagnostics and care.
The good news is that rescues are interested in helping Zaza. The challenge is that she needs a foster home NOW to make that possible.

Can you open your home and help save Zaza's life? Fostering provides the bridge she needs to get out of the shelter and into rescue.

Please share and reach out immediately if you can foster or know someone who can.

‼️The recent allegations involving Miranda’s Rescue are deeply concerning. Like many in the rescue community, we are troubled and want answers. We support a thorough, transparent investigation by the appropriate authorities!

Today, we are focused on the future of the four remaining dogs transferred from San Jose Animal Care and Services to Miranda’s Rescue: Jaqueline, Chipmunk, Porkchop, and Ra. We need your help.

📢 San Jose Animal Care has requested the return of these dogs. Once returned, they will be reassessed and their pathways determined. With the shelter already overcrowded, there is no guarantee what those outcomes will be or if these amazing dogs will be at risk of euthanasia.

Jaqueline and Chipmunk may return to the adoption floor. However, before leaving the shelter, Porkchop was slated for immediate euthanasia, and Ra was suffering from extreme kennel stress. He also completed a quarantine period for a minor bite, which makes the prospect of their return especially concerning. 💔

According to Humboldt Animal Control, all four dogs are healthy. Regardless of the outcome of the investigation, these dogs need placement now. Please help us spread the word and connect Jaqueline, Chipmunk, Porkchop, and Ra with fosters, adopters, or rescue partners ASAP!

🆘 We helped save their lives once. Please help us save them again.🆘

🎬 Behind the Scenes Rescue 🎬

Last week, Alice was at risk of euthanasia at the shelter. She was suspected to have been hit by a car and X-rays showed serious injuries.

With the help of some amazing volunteers who secured a foster home, we were able to work with Nobody's Perfekt Dogs and Cats to successfully navigate the shelter for this amazing behind-the-scenes rescue.

🙏🏼 Please make a donation towards Alice’s care and help NPD continue their amazing work.

Urgent Foster or Rescue needed so these puppies don’t have to grow up in the Shelter.

🌼 Marigold is a young, friendly, gentle mama who has been raising her 10 babies in the shelter since the day they were born. They’ve been at SJACC since May 19, and the puppies are now 3 weeks old — they deserve to grow up in a home, not a kennel.

Marigold is sweet and vaccinated. The puppies have started their vaccines too.

🌺 UPDATE 6/7: We are so incredibly grateful that our posts are reaching adopters! POLLO was adopted and has left the shelter! Please keep sharing, and together we can help more dogs get the chance they deserve!

Freedom picture in the comments 🐾 thank you!

🚨POLLO NEEDS A FOSTER, ADOPTER, OR RESCUE BY 5:00 PM on 06/08/26 OR HE WILL BE EUTHANIZED.🚨
Meet Pollo, a 2-year-old Lab mix weighing 67 pounds with endless enthusiasm and a whole lot of love to give to the right home. This sweet, playful boy is full of energy and ready to be your adventure partner, but like any good adventure, he does best with a little structure and direction. He pulls moderately on leash and would thrive with continued leash training alongside an owner who's committed to helping him channel that energy, and trust us, the payoff is worth it.

Pollo is highly treat-motivated, already knows his sit, and is ready to soak up everything you have to teach him. He spends his time playing with his favorite stuffy toys, splashing in the doggie pool, or running the fence with his dog neighbors like it's the world's most exciting sport.

He loves other dogs and gets very excited around them, but he hasn't quite figured out his own size and strength yet and struggles to play appropriately. He also has a strong prey drive, so a cat-free home is a must.

Pollo is currently struggling with severe kennel stress, which means getting him into a home isn't just a kindness, it's urgent. Once he's had a chance to burn some energy, this affectionate boy actively seeks out love and attention, and that's when you really get to see who he is: sweet, devoted, and absolutely worth it.
If you have the space and the patience to help him grow, Pollo will reward you tenfold. ❤️

🔥 OSHA NEEDS A FOSTER, ADOPTER, OR RESCUE BY 5PM on 06/08/26 OR SHE WILL BE EUTHANIZED.
Osha is a young (around 2 years old), beautiful dark brown and white pit bull/shepherd mix with a soft heart hiding behind a brave face.
Osha was found lying in the middle of a busy road, trembling while cars carefully drove around her. At first, she was scared and unsure, growling to keep the world away. But with a little patience, calm voices, and plenty of treats, she quickly transformed into a playful, affectionate, wiggly girl who leaned into pets and happily made new friends. In fact, after warming up, she willingly jumped into a finder’s car and safely spent the night in a home.

Since entering the shelter, Osha has shown that she bonds quickly with people who treat her kindly and move at her pace. Once she trusts you, she is incredibly sweet, easy to handle, affectionate, playful, and eager to interact. She loves treats, responds well to verbal cues, enjoys spending time in the yard, and has been described as social and affiliative outside the kennel environment.

Osha is a sensitive dog who struggles with the overwhelming shelter environment. The constant noise, unfamiliar people, and kennel stress can make her fearful and reactive behind barriers. However, she is highly responsive to positive reinforcement and redirects easily with her name, treats, and calm guidance.
What Osha truly needs is not punishment or fear — she needs decompression, patience, predictability, and someone willing to give her a chance to feel safe. Underneath the stress is a young, loving dog who wants connection and comfort.
Osha would thrive with an adopter or rescue willing to give her time to settle in and build trust.

💥🚨 URGENT — BOTTLE BABIES AT RISK AT SAN JOSE ANIMAL CARE CENTER 💥

This was JUST announced today

San José Animal Care Center no longer has overnight staff in the kitten nursery.

That means Bottle Babies + any kitten needing overnight care (e.g older kittens that need help eating or overnight medical care) must be placed the SAME DAY they arrive.

If placement can’t be found by end of business, neonatal + critically ill kittens will be humanely euthanized because no one is there to feed or monitor them overnight.

💔 What’s happening right now:

• Kittens are flooding into the shelter every single day

• Shelter wants Bottle babies out by 5 PM daily when they lock the Shelter gates. Occasionally an exception might be made to let someone pick up later. Staff leave at 10 PM — return at 6 AM.

• Emergency placement list being built NOW

• If you want to be part of the emergency list us know AND we let the Kitten Phone know. Shelter is looking for fosters in Santa Clara County

🆘 We urgently need:
• Overnight fosters (even one night saves a life)
• Rescues with ANY space
• People willing to be on the emergency list
• Shares + tags to reach more fosters

TO SIGN UP TO FOSTER
Please email [email protected] and cc: [email protected] and [email protected] and request to be added to the placement list.
Should the shelter be in need of assistance, they say you will be contacted. Please note that neonatal kitten care can be intense and they require round the clock feedings including over night.

Those who can foster for long periods of time (ideally up until they are ready for adoption) will be prioritized for placement.

If you do not have experience with bottle babies, the shelter can teach you, but it's very important to let the shelter know your experience and to stay in touch with the shelter for support.

BOTTLE BABY INTAKE
The shelter will still take Bottle Babies if they have to but they are trying not to. If they do intake, and can’t find placement the same day, they won’t survive the night under the new policy.

Please foster, rescue, transport, or share.
Lives depend on this.

UPDATE 5/27: Poppy Seed was granted a 3-day extension. Her new final date is 5/30/26. Please continue to pledge, share, and apply to foster 🆘
——
🔥POPPY SEED NEEDS A FOSTER, ADOPTER, OR RESCUE BY 5 PM ON MAY 27 OR SHE WILL BE EUTHANIZED.🔥

Poppy Seed is a beautiful 43-pound pocket-sized pittie around 2 years old who deserves the chance to decompress and finally feel safe.

Poppy Seed was recently returned after adoption. There were no incidents, but Poppy Seed displayed reactivity toward strangers and children shortly after arriving in her new home. Given little time to adjust to her new circumstances, the strange and busy environment appeared to be overwhelming for her. With gentle handling and patience, she warms up quickly and seeks affection and connection. Future reactivity will be manageable using positive reinforcement training and adequate distance from triggers. Poppy's new adopter is encouraged to seek training with a Fear-Free-certified trainer.

On a recent Trails & Tails outing, Poppy showed everyone who she truly is outside the shelter. She enjoyed a leisurely walk and was calm, easygoing, wonderful on leash, and non-reactive to cyclists, joggers, dogs, and wildlife. She loves cuddles, treats, car rides, and staying close to her person.

Poppy Seed would do best in a calm, adult-only home that can provide structure, decompression, and continued training so she can thrive. In the right home, she will blossom into an incredibly loving and loyal companion.

Please help save Poppy Seed.
