Ecovet Global is so very grateful to be partnering with Common River as we set the ground work to launch an exciting animal health and conservation initiative in Aleta Wondo, Ethiopia. Girls comprise close to 60% of Common River’s primary school enrollment and are some of the best and brightest of the bunch. We are thrilled to learn from these girls, and hopefully provide them with the tools and inspiration they need to become future animal health doctors and environmental scientists!

Common River is hosting University of Texas medical students right now. We have had an outbreak of tungiasis caused by sand fleas which have infested our classrooms. So, the timing of the medical team couldn't be better, and they are hopping on treatment plans and preventative strategies. to mural in progress. I asked the school girls ages 9-12 to draw designs/motifs, and then used their motifs to create this mural on the front of one of the school rooms. Summer of 2016, Ethiopia, Sidamo region, school, garden & nonprofit in Aleta Wondo village. Left my 💚 with the children & those verdant pastures filled with banana, pineapple & coffee bean trees!! Amazing place! Go visit or just send 💰— they need & deserve it 💚

Did you know?! Common River recently celebrated its 10th Birthday! Here's a brief report from Tsegaye: CR 10th Birthday Celebration went very well.
Present at the ceremony were Sidama Zone Investment Offices, Sidama Women and Children Affairs president, officials from the ministry of education, students, parents, and teachers.Thanks to our very hard working staff. also present were Sidama TV & radio stations. There was an overwhelming appreciation and support from everyone!
The program highlighted Femaie Literacy students, Kindergarten -4th graders. Parents took center stage and explained to the officials all the community appreciation.
Aleta wondo is very calm and very peaceful as always.
