Marking the 40th anniversary of the awards, SFF and SOMArts Cultural Center are proud to present the 2026 Murphy and Cadogan Contemporary Art Awards Exhibition! Curated by Kevin B. Chen, the exhibition features 15 exceptional emerging artists and highlights the transformative role that scholarship support plays in sustaining creative practice.

The Murphy & Cadogan Awards help fuel the forward-thinking visual arts movement that makes the Bay Area unique by fostering the artistic potential of fine arts students. The opening reception and awards ceremony celebrating this year’s recipients will take place on Friday, October 16, from 7 PM to 9 PM.

Years of community advocacy are becoming reality through La Maravilla, a major affordable housing development in San Francisco's Mission District. This community-led development will create more than 350 affordable homes for families, seniors, and people transitioning out of homelessness. Co-developed by Mission Housing Development Corporation and Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA), La Maravilla will help longtime residents stay rooted in the neighborhood they call home, beginning in March 2027.

This Black Philanthropy Month, SFF is shining a light on Galen Maness and his commitment to giving back to the Bay Area.

For Galen, philanthropy is an extension of being part of a community. He partnered with SFF to manage his giving, allowing him to focus on the impact of his philanthropy rather than the administrative logistics. From supporting local organizations like Southern Exposure to volunteering as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area, his dedication continues to strengthen our community.

This National Nonprofit Day, we're grateful for our nonprofit partners across the Bay Area for working towards a more equitable and inclusive future. Black Philanthropy Month is an opportunity to reflect on how we can continue investing in racial equity, inclusion, and economic opportunity. This year's theme, "Many Voices, One Movement," recognizes the collective impact of those advancing Black philanthropy.

SFF is proud to highlight the Black Funders Network, which has connected Black funders and allies since 2019 with the resources, information, and power to support Black communities and Black-led organizations. Together, we're helping expand opportunity and advance equity across the Bay Area.

Immigrant families are facing the fear of detention, deportation, income loss, and the threat of eviction and hunger. We are raising $10M to provide direct cash assistance to immigrant families in need. With our partners like Canal Alliance, we are providing support to our most vulnerable neighbors.

With the help of local leaders like Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee, we created the Stand Together Bay Area Fund to provide urgent financial assistance to local immigrant families in need. We have already been putting cash directly into the hands of our most vulnerable neighbors. But we still need your help.

Many of our immigrant neighbors are losing critical safety net benefits for food and healthcare, and their families are under intense pressure. Together with local leaders, including Supervisor Nikki Fortunato Bas, we created the Stand Together Bay Area Fund to support immigrant families.
