Youth at Sprouts are paired with a chef mentor and case manager to develop the skills needed to secure and maintain a culinary job. Graduates use these entry-level jobs to kickstart culinary careers, pay for education, or pursue new industries.

We’re thrilled to introduce Chef Pim Techamuanvivit (Pim Techamuanvivit) to our Powerful Women in Food Gala Lineup this fall, supported by Chef Meghan Clark!

Chef Pim set out to bring richer & more diverse Thai cooking to the U.S. - and has since built a Michelin-starred culinary legacy spanning SF and Bangkok, from Kin Khao and Nari Restaurant to nahm Bangkok.

Alongside her throughout that journey has been acclaimed Chef Meghan Clark, a longtime collaborator whom Pim personally called back to San Francisco to helm Kin Khao. Together, they built Nari through years of travel, trust, and a shared vision for what Thai cooking could look like in SF.

This spirit of sharing knowledge, opening doors, and creating opportunities for others to rise is at the heart of Sprouts Chef Training. We see it every day through our incredible community of chefs who welcome Sprouts’ youth into their kitchens and inspire thriving futures in food.

Our Gala Champion tables are SOLD OUT! Let’s take a moment to honor the Champion wine talent who made these tables such a success.

We’re delighted to have Julie Elkeshen (Julie Stenger - Elkeshen) of Impensata Wines, Cortney Klein (Cortney Klein) of Allora Vineyards, and Jan Zakin (Janice Hansen Zakin) of Zakin Estate curating wine pairings for all four decadent dinner courses exclusively for our Champion table guests on November 1.

Together, these family-owned estates share a passion for small-production wines, distinctive terroir, meticulous craftsmanship, and a commitment to excellence. This year, STAND+ is making sure every one of Sprouts’ chef trainees has the professional kitchen footwear they need to step into their internships ready to learn, grow, and thrive.

Standing strong in a kitchen takes grit - yet there’s no better support than STAND+ soles, giving all 90 of our youth comfortable, slip-resistant, and safe footwear to take on the work ahead. For this, we could not be more grateful.

1 pair of shoes means 1 less barrier. Sometimes, that’s the difference between having an opportunity and being ready to seize it.

What a special evening that our trainees and team are still smiling ear to ear over!

When Sprouts intern Kayla said, “Samin is like my LeBron,” we knew this opportunity to attend Samin Nosrat’s Oakland event would be one that our Chef Trainees would carry with them for years to come - and it truly was.

A culinary icon, an inspiring role model, and incredibly generous in uplifting those around her, Samin welcomed
our trainees backstage, shared stories, and made time to connect (with a very special introduction to Fava Bean 🐾 )

CT Spotlight: DJ!

For DJ, it all started by watching his mom cook and putting his own spin on the dishes she made.

Through Sprouts Chef Training, DJ interned at hahdough Cakes & Pastries with Chef Ha, where he embraced the challenge of learning the ins and outs of a professional bakery from the ground up. From making and measuring dough to preparing fillings, melting chocolate, and assisting customers, his confidence grew with every shift. Chef Ha praised his reliability, punctuality, and eagerness to learn.

Today, DJ leaves the program with stronger kitchen skills, hands-on bakery experience, and the confidence to continue building a future in the culinary industry.
