First observed in 2014, HIV Long Term Survivors Day honors long-term survivors of HIV and aims to raise awareness about their needs, issues, and journeys.

June 5th was selected for this particular awareness day as it marks the day in 1981 that the CDC reported the first 5 cases and is considered the start of the AIDS pandemic.

While there still is no cure HIV and AIDs is no longer a death sentence and it is preventable. We encourage you to know your status, get tested regularly, and take preventative action if you are at risk.

We’re honored to be a beneficiary of Elton John Impact Awards – celebrating the changemakers who are redefining culture and uplifting the LGBTQ+ community. 🌈

Because of this support and visibility from The Elton John Impact Awards, and The Looking Out Foundation, The LGBT National Help Center is able to advance our critical work by providing support to the LGBT National Hotline, the only national crisis prevention hotline for the entire LGBTQ+ community and for LGBTnearMe.org the largest LGBTQ+ resource directory connecting the community..

This year’s honorees – including Jonathan Bailey, Laverne Cox, Melissa Etheridge, Billie Jean King, Orville Peck and Chappell Roan – have driven change, shaped culture and made a positive impact on society.
