Year-End Thoughts from
Zach Ullery, Resound
Ensemble’s Artistic Director
“The point is, art never stopped a war and never got anybody a job. That was never its function. Art cannot change events. But it can change people… and because people are changed by art — enriched, ennobled, encouraged—they then act in ways that may affect the course of events.”
-Leonard Bernstein
As I step into my role as the new Artistic Director of Resound Ensemble, the belief that art can change people has never felt more real. I have been deeply grateful for the chance to work alongside such a talented, thoughtful, and genuinely wonderful group of humans. We take real joy in making music together— we laugh, we listen closely, and we challenge one another — but we also take our calling seriously. We believe that the process of learning and performing music should change us as musicians and as people, and that those changes ripple outward to our audiences and our community.
As this year draws to a close, all of us at Resound Ensemble are filled with gratitude — for the music itself, for the community that gathers around it, and most of all for you. In this season of giving, we invite you to consider making a year-end gift to Resound Ensemble and offering the gift of music to others. Your support helps us be a force for good in the world — to bring light through sound, creativity, and shared experience, and to affirm our belief that art can, and does, change people. A contribution before December 31 helps us begin the new year with strength, clarity, and momentum. Thank you for supporting the music that changes us.
