Alongside our on-the-ground partners, we co-design learning solutions and conduct high-quality research to understand what works, for whom, and how. We provide real-time feedback to software developers and our local implementation partners — creating a powerful, continuous improvement loop that will expand learning for children everywhere.

This year's 2026 put a global spotlight on the visionary leadership African governments are bringing to addressing foundational learning challenges. We are grateful to have been part of this powerful convening.

Our deepest gratitude to the Ministry of Education in Malawi and the entire BEFIT team for the important work they're doing to ensure all children become literate and numerate.

Leadership starts with a single commitment.

At Chizimya Primary School in Mzimba South, Mr. Kondwani Nyirenda is leading from the front. As both a teacher and program coordinator, he knows that improving literacy and numeracy starts with individual dedication.

From pre-arranging tablets to troubleshooting tech updates before the bell rings, his proactive planning ensures that not a single minute of learning time is wasted.

"Proactive planning is my focus," Mr. Nyirenda shares. "By organizing the classroom, preparing the tablets, and checking for updates beforehand, I make sure our learners spend every single minute on task without a hitch."

True leadership is taking ownership of the mission.

Find out how Mr. Nyirenda is setting a standard for digital education in his community.

A landmark day for BEFIT. We are deeply grateful to Hon. Bright Msaka, SC, Minister of Education, Science and Technology, for visiting Mganthira Primary School in Mzuzu City and for going beyond observation to fully experience the programme alongside Standard 1 learners.

BEFIT is a Government-led initiative to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy, and moments like this reflect the kind of sustained, hands-on leadership that is carrying this program forward.

Thank you, Honourable Minister, for your time, your curiosity, and your continued commitment to closing learning gaps for Malawi's children.
