Come celebrate AAPI heritage, entrepreneurship, and mental health at Rooted & Rising!

Welcome to Rooted & Rising: AAPI Heritage, Entrepreneurship, & Mental Health! Join us for an engaging event at the INSEAD San Francisco Hub for Business Innovation.

At the intersection of entrepreneurship, mental health, and community empowerment as we honor Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, Mental Health Awareness Month, and National Small Business Month.

This event brings together a dynamic group of AAPI leaders, entrepreneurs, mental health professionals, and community advocates to share their journeys, challenges, and solutions for thriving in business while prioritizing mental health. Through candid conversations, networking, and resource sharing, we aim to spotlight the importance of wellness in the entrepreneurial space and build solidarity within our community. We will also feature five local AAPI-owned small businesses, offering attendees a chance to support, shop, and connect with inspiring vendors who are making an impact in our neighborhoods.

Did you hear?

We were one of 25 selected grantes for the 2026 Community Challenge Grants!

Thank you to the City Administrator's Office for putting this opportunity together.

This will have a powerful impact on our Sunset community by preserving and celebrating Chinese culture while fostering intergenerational connection and pride.

Through the Cultural Empowerment Program and the Sunset Night Market®, our community can share traditions, stories, and cultural practices, and bring their stories to life at the Sunset Night Market®, which also supports local economic vitality. This funding is essential to sustaining year-round cultural engagement, expanding accessible programming, and ensuring our community’s voices and heritage remain visible, vibrant, and thriving.

We are so proud to be in community with Sunset YOUTH Services. They are a true reflection of what it means to be a Sunset neighbor and we're thrilled that Mission Local highlighted them in this story.

Cops, disgruntled residents and skeptical neighbors: Sunset Youth Services changed hearts and minds in the Westside over 34 years.

What does it take to create real change in a community? 🌱

At our recent Lunch & Learn, our monolingual Chinese community came together to explore how neighbors in the Excelsior/OMI organized, advocated, and made their voices heard—and what we can learn from their journey.

Through a collaborative visioning process, we also built a “community tree,” reflecting on what community means to us and what justice looks like in our everyday lives. 🌳

Huge thank you to PODER (SF) for leading such an inspiring and insightful training and for sharing your knowledge with us!

From our friends at the SFMTA - San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency

The SFMTA is working to improve the N Judah between Duboce Portal and Ocean Beach to make service faster, more reliable, safer, and more accessible.

The N Judah carries about 35,000 riders daily. As it travels through Duboce Triangle, Cole Valley, and the Inner and Outer Sunset, the N Judah runs in the street and is often slow and unreliable. Potential improvements could focus on reducing travel times, improving safety, accessibility, and comfort, reducing crowding, and preparing for future capacity needs. Before we draft any proposals, we want to hear from you! If you ride the N Judah or live/work along the corridor, please scan the QR code or visit SFMTA.com/NJudahProject and take our survey to help shape the improvements.
