Hi! I'm Needoh, a 5-month-old boy, and I have a very important job: making sure nothing exciting happens without me. The moment I walk into a room, I'm ready to investigate every corner, climb every cat tree, inspect every shelf, and see exactly what you're doing. If you're unpacking groceries, making the bed, or working on your computer, I'll be right there helping... or at least supervising!

I have lots of kitten energy and love to play.
Wand toys, springs, balls—if it moves, I'm probably chasing it. Exploring the world gives me confidence, and once I realized I was safe in my foster home, I made myself completely at home. By my very first night, I was already curled up next to my foster for snuggles.

Even though I'm an adventurous guy, I'm also sweet, affectionate, and easy to handle. After I've finished bouncing around and satisfying my curiosity, I'm more than happy to settle in for some pets and cuddle time.

A kind rescuer in Fresno couldn't leave me behind to survive on the streets, so I made the journey to San Francisco to find the family I've always deserved.

I'm in foster with my buddy Noah. We don't have to be adopted together, but we'd certainly love to continue our adventures as a pair. If we don't go home together, I'll need another young, playful cat who can keep up with all my zoomies and wrestling matches. Having a feline playmate is a must for me!

Hi there! I’m Jolie, a 4-month-old girl, and I may do things a little differently, but I don't let that stop me from enjoying life.

I was found as a stray and brought to Oakland Animal Services before making my way to Give Me Shelter. I have moderate cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), a neurological condition I was born with that makes me a little wobbly when I walk. The good news? It isn't painful, it isn't contagious, and it doesn't slow me down nearly as much as you might think. I always find my way wherever I want to go!

I'm a naturally curious girl. Once I think you're not watching, I'm off exploring every corner of the room, investigating anything new, and seeing what adventures await. I also love toys and am perfectly happy entertaining myself, though I'd never turn down a play session with you.

When we first meet, I might be a little cautious if you approach me too quickly. Give me a little time, settle in, and you'll see my confidence grow. Before long, I'll be scooting a little closer, keeping you company, and once we're friends, I'll even meow to let you know I'd like some attention. I'm also told my sploots are a perfect 10 out of 10!

One thing I know for sure—I adore other cats. I love making feline friends and would be thrilled to have a gentle, friendly cat companion who can show me the ropes and keep me company. I especially enjoy watching what the "big cats" are up to and making new friends.

I've figured out all kinds of clever ways to navigate the world. A short, carpeted cat tree is one of my favorite places because I can pull myself up with my strong little forearms and claws to enjoy the view. I'm also an A+ student when it comes to using my litter box. Once my setup is right, I'm really no more work than any other cat.

If you're looking for a sweet, resilient companion who will make you smile every day, I'd love the chance to meet you. My walk may be a little wobbly, but my heart is steady, full of love, and ready for a family to call my own.

Hi! I'm Noah, a 7-month-old boy, and if there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I believe people were invented for cuddling. Pick me up, and I'll happily melt right into your arms. Sit down, and I'll be in your lap before you know it. My foster says I'm practically part ragdoll because I relax so completely when I'm getting love. In fact, I fell asleep on my foster's arm the very first day I arrived!

I'm a gentle, affectionate little guy with a soft, easygoing personality. When I'm feeling especially happy and safe, I'll flop over and show you my belly—it's my way of saying I trust you. I love cozy blankets, sunny windows, warm laps, and just being close to my favorite people.

I came to San Francisco after a kind rescuer in Fresno couldn't leave me and my friends behind to fend for ourselves on the streets. Now I'm ready for a forever home where I'll never have to wonder if I'm safe again.

🌲 Meet Redwood 🌲

He earned his name by climbing one of the tallest trees around.

Sometimes it takes a village to save one cat.

Last week, contacted us about an orange tabby stranded high in a tree near Stern Grove—in prime coyote territory.

People driving along 19th Avenue spotted him, returned the next day, and found he was still there. They searched everywhere for help but couldn't find anyone to rescue him. That's when VARS, a nonprofit based in Modesto, stepped up. After working all day, Dauki and Sonni drove to San Francisco to save a cat they'd never met.

VARS partners with local rescues for friendly cats without homes, so they asked if Give Me Shelter could help. Of course, we said yes.

When we arrived that evening, Redwood was already halfway up the tree. The moment he heard us, he climbed all the way to the top—an estimated 80–100 feet high.

As Dauki climbed, Redwood climbed even higher. Dusk settled in, crows circled overhead, and traffic roared below. Redwood was scared.

Armed with Churu, patience, and a gentle touch, Dauki slowly earned Redwood's trust. A short time later, Redwood was safely tucked into a rescue backpack and back on the ground.

He had no microchip, was an unneutered tomcat, and had clearly been surviving on his own. We suspect he climbed that tree while trying to escape a coyote.

Today, Redwood is safe. He's been neutered, received veterinary care, and is settling into foster life, where he's already learned that room service and Churu are pretty wonderful.

Hi, I’m Tucker, a 6-year-old boy.

For a long time, I survived outside by myself, where other cats constantly bullied me, chased me away from food and shelter, and left me with scratches and injuries. I was always hungry, always exhausted, and always looking over my shoulder. When I eventually showed up with a badly injured front paw, my rescuers knew I couldn’t keep surviving on my own.

That’s when they discovered I’d originally been trapped at an encampment in Oakland and relocated through a working cat program for rodent control. Somehow, I had survived on my own for months before finally finding the backyard where someone noticed I needed help.

Thankfully, those days are behind me. Now that I’ve had time to settle into a foster home, everyone is discovering what a truly special boy I am. I’m incredibly affectionate and absolutely adore head scratches, belly rubs, and spending time with my people. One of my favorite things is sneaking into bed in the middle of the night for a few quiet cuddles and gentle pats before drifting back to sleep.

I also have a wonderfully playful side. Wave a wand toy, toss me a ball, and I’m ready to play for as long as you are. As my confidence has grown, I’ve started exploring more of the house during the day and have even found my voice—I love chatting with my foster family when I think it’s time for another play session or a little extra attention.

I’m still learning that the world is a safe place, so quick movements can surprise me. But the sweetest part is that I always come right back. Every day I become a little braver, a little more relaxed, and a little more convinced that people are pretty wonderful. Because of my past, I’ll do best with someone patient who understands that trust takes time.

I’ve been eating a prescription diet while my foster family helped get my digestive system back on track, and I’m doing so much better! I’m now starting the transition back to a regular diet, though my future family should keep an eye on my tummy.

I’m a friendly, confident girl who enjoys meeting new people and doesn’t spend much time hiding. Whether you’re folding laundry, working from home, or relaxing on the couch, chances are I’ll be nearby keeping you company. I love being part of whatever you’re doing, and I’m happy to supervise your daily routine from a comfy chair or by following you from room to room.

I’m also quite the conversationalist! I’ll happily chat with you about dinner, remind you when it’s time for treats, or simply tell you about my day. And when I’m in the mood for affection, you won’t have to guess—I’ll meow, hop up to meet your hand, or climb right into your lap to collect the pets I deserve.

While I enjoy attention, I also appreciate when people listen to my cues. If I’ve had enough petting, I’ll politely let you know with a gentle paw or soft nip (never a real bite). I’m looking for someone who understands that every cat has boundaries and appreciates clear communication.

I prefer a peaceful home where I can truly relax. Loud noises aren’t my thing, and I’d be happiest as your one and only feline companion. I have so much love to give that I don’t feel the need to share the spotlight with another cat!

My journey hasn’t been easy. I lost my home when my person was deployed, and the shelter environment at Peninsula Humane Society was simply too stressful for me. Thankfully, Give Me Shelter stepped in to give me another chance at finding the quiet, loving home I’ve been waiting for.

Hello there! My name is Samba, and if you’re looking for a cat who has something to say, I might be your purrfect match.

I’m a beautiful, petite Maine C**n mix with a luxurious long coat, a big personality, and plenty of charm. I weigh about 10 pounds, but I have all the wonderful traits people love about Maine C**ns—I’m incredibly people-oriented, communicative, and devoted to my humans.

I was originally adopted from Give Me Shelter in 2021, and while my person loves me dearly, he is moving overseas and feels such a big move would be too much for me. So now I’m looking for a new family to love.

A lady never shares her age, so let’s just say my records indicate I’m over 15—but that was only an estimate when I was first rescued so we don’t really know my true age. My person swears I act much younger, and I have plenty of playful energy, curiosity, and opinions to prove it. I’m a wonderfully chatty cat who loves interacting with my people, and I’d be happiest with someone who enjoys carrying on conversations with their feline companion. I have a whole vocabulary of chirps, meows, and commentary, and I’m not shy about using it.

Don’t let my love of sunny naps fool you—I also have a playful side! Wand toys are one of my favorites, and I really enjoy batting around my automatic interactive toy. After a fun play session, you’ll usually find me stretched out in a sunny window watching birds, bugs, and all the neighborhood happenings.

Most of all, I’m an affectionate girl who loves being close to my people. I’ll happily snuggle in bed, curl up beside you on the couch, soak up pets and head scratches, and remind you just how special it is to share your life with a cat. Whether it’s a long cuddle session or just a quick scritch on the head, I’m always happy to receive a little love.

I eat Hill’s Prescription Diet z/d dry food to help keep me feeling my best, and while I don’t care much for brushing, I do enjoy being pampered with a grooming glove.

8-year-old Sasha was discovered abandoned in San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood by a kindhearted Good Samaritan who couldn't bear to leave her behind. Thin, disheveled, and missing patches of fur from a flea allergy after trying to survive outdoors, Sasha was clearly a cat who had fallen on hard times. 😿

Her rescuer brought her to SFACC, hoping her family would come for her. Although Sasha had a microchip, no one ever claimed her. 💔 When her stray hold ended, her finder received a heartbreaking call: Sasha had less than three days to find a rescue or she would be euthanized. 😱

Sasha was overwhelmed by the shelter and needed a dental procedure, so she wasn't a candidate for adoption at SFACC due to both her behavior and medical evaluations.

But Sasha's story didn't end there.

Her dedicated rescuer rallied friends and posted her all over social media, determined to save her life. A foster-to-adopt home stepped forward, and Give Me Shelter was able to welcome Sasha into our rescue. While everyone hoped she might adjust to sharing her home with another cat and get adopted officially, Sasha made it clear that her dream is to be your one and only feline companion.

And honestly, she has more than enough love to fill your home all by herself.

Sasha is the quintessential lap cat. She adores curling up with her people, soaking in affection, and gently giving soft headbutts whenever she's hoping for a few more pets. She especially loves face rubs and scratches behind her ears, and she'll happily melt into your lap while you tell her what a beautiful girl she is. In fact, Sasha loves being talked to—your voice seems to comfort her, and she'll often chat right back, especially when dinner is being prepared.

Don't let her age fool you—Sasha still has plenty of playful spirit. She loves chasing string toys, wrestling with catnip toys, and exploring every corner of her home with confidence and curiosity. She's brave, adaptable, and takes everyday household activity in stride, making herself right at home wherever she goes.
