🧡 From Robyn… 🧡

People assume I started Project Athena Foundation because I love adventure. The real reason is what I learned when I was told my own adventures might be over.

At the height of my racing career, a doctor told me I would never run again. Six hip replacements followed.

What carried me through was a simple decision: put something back on the calendar, a finish line to train toward, and refuse to let the setback be the end of the story.

So I set out to do that for other people. helps survivors of medical and traumatic setbacks live out an adventurous dream as part of their recovery. We call them Athenas, because somewhere on the way to that finish line, a survivor becomes an adventurer.

This work is the truest expression of everything I believe: that a setback can be the start of something great, and that no leader has to build their comeback alone.

Registration for our 2027 adventures is now open. Whether you're coming through something hard and ready to show yourself what you are still made of, or you want to help someone else get there, there is a place for you on the team.

P.S. called me a hero for Project Athena, but we all know who the real heroes are: the survivors and fundraisers, true leaders who inspire greatness in themselves, each other and an important mission.

We’re heading back to one of the most breathtaking places on earth for an epic Project Athena adventure — the ZION TRAVERSE in 2027! 🧡

Get ready for 2 days and 45 miles of incredible terrain as we trek Zion from West to East, taking on iconic highlights like Angels Landing and Walter’s Wiggles.

But this adventure is about so much more than the miles.

It’s about comeback stories.
It’s about discovering what you’re capable of.
It’s about Survivors becoming Athletes.
And it’s about doing hard things TOGETHER.

I never have the right words to express the impact the Grand Canyon has on our souls. The people and places are simply amazing. Every. Single. Time. A few shots from yesterday’s final push to the top! Well done team!!!!!

Rim to Rim day 1 success!!! The team crushed it and looked super strong at the top! We even acquired a bonus teammate on trail. They went back in before 3am (pacific) and just left Phantom Ranch. Crew is in transit to intercept at the South Rim and we are acquiring new friends every time we turn around!! Turns out we’re a great trans-canyon shuttle service:)
