Jewish Women's Foundation of SD

Jewish Women's Foundation of SD The Jewish Women’s Foundation (JWF) is a network of women who have joined together to improve the lives of Jewish women and girls.

The Jewish Women’s Foundation of San Diego is dedicated to supporting the Jewish community through innovative and creative funding to benefit and enhance the lives of primarily Jewish women and girls locally, nationally, and globally. Guided by Jewish values, the Jewish Women’s Foundation creates awareness of the issues and needs of Jewish women and girls. Through the work of this Foundation, wome

n are empowered as funders, decision makers, and agents for change in the community. CORE VALUES:
Tzedakah – We value justice in its highest degree, preserving human dignity by helping people help themselves. Tikkun Olam – We seek to repair the world by supporting programs and organizations that we believe will be effective in making lasting and systemic change. Kehillah – We acknowledge and celebrate our diverse Jewish community, seek partnerships with our grantees and encourage collaborations to leverage strengths among granting organizations. B’tzelem Elohim – We view every individual in God’s image, demanding respect for, compassion towards and inclusion of different perspectives, generations, denominations, and cultures. Gender Equity – We support equal rights, representation and opportunities for those who identify as women and girls. Empowerment and Agency – We give women and girls the power to grow and take control over their own lives through education, access, mentoring, and advocacy. Innovation and Creativity – We encourage taking informed risks, trying new ideas, and getting out of our comfort zone. WHAT WE DO:
Grants: Every 3 years JWF funds organizations/programs that support Jewish women and girls. We fund with a “gender lens” and a “Jewish lens,” recognizing that Jewish women and girls have unique needs both because of their gender and their religious and cultural heritage. Educational Programs: We create awareness of issues and needs facing Jewish women and girls through informal gatherings throughout the year and our signature event “Let’s Talk About It.” The annual event is a panel discussion of experts and community members discussing timely women’s issues. We focus on topics that may be difficult to discuss and present them in a safe, non-judgmental, confidential forum where the audience can feel comfortable asking questions and sharing experiences. Past topics have included LGBTQ+ Awareness, Substance Abuse, and Women’s Reproductive Issues. Hands-on experiences: JWF members interact with our grantee partners through hands on activities throughout the year.

JWF recently held a special members-only visit to The Rosie Project where we connected with the each other, the horses, and practiced breathwork and meditation. The Rosie Project, founded by JWF member Laura Spielman, provides a safe, compassionate environment for growth, healing, and connection through the unique bond between humans and horses. Thanks for joining us!
