Some kids don’t have “big behaviors,” they have big feelings in small bodies that don’t know what to do with them yet.

Join our free Zoom educational support group based on Robyn Gobbel’s parenting course Raising Kids with Big Baffling Behaviors.

If you’re parenting, fostering, or supporting a child whose behaviors feel confusing, intense, or just plain exhausting, you’re not alone.

This group will focus on real-life strategies, regulation, and how to support kids (and yourself) through the hard moments.

Studies show horses help calm the nervous system, supporting regulation, presence, and emotional grounding. It creates a unique space for families to slow down and bond through shared experience and play.

Families apart of the Family Horse Program spent time together in a play-based environment using horse-safe, non-toxic paint to gently and safely paint the horses as part of a guided activity. The kids loved it!

Last night was the first Family Horse Program night at Ride Above Disabilities.

Four families spent time petting, grooming, and connecting with the horses and each other, followed by games to end the evening. It was meaningful night and we’re looking forward to next week!

We see you. We know how hard you’re working to love your kids and support your family. And we also know how heavy and lonely this journey can feel sometimes.

Today some the Steadfast leadership team and board members spent the day mapping out the rest of the year with YOU in mind. Every sticky note on those pages represents a program, training, event, or group designed to support your whole family, because your whole family matters.

We’re building out a year of play‑based programs, trainings, and connect groups to give you community, tools, and moments of joy.

Thank you to our private donors and to Ability Central, Poway Community Foundation, Foundation for Developmental Disabilities, and the Tah Dah Foundation. Your support makes this possible for the families who give so much.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Tah Dah Foundation, we’re hosting a 7‑week Family Art Program!

We believe deeply in the power of play. The way it opens kids up, brings caregivers in, and creates space for families to connect without pressure. When families play together, they learn together. They practice regulation, try new things side‑by‑side, and build attachment in ways that feel natural and joyful.

This program is designed to bring families together through play, creativity, and connection. Each week, families explore a new hands‑on art project that strengthens bonds while introducing simple techniques that help calm the nervous system. Through sensory‑rich materials, grounding activities, and shared creative experiences, families get to slow down, reconnect, and grow together.

Sign up for the full series or join individual weeks, whatever fits your family best. Steadfastsupport.org

We’re excited to announce a partnership with Ride Above Disability and a new program being offered for the month of April and the month of June.

We believe in the importance of families spending time together and building attachment in a fun and relaxed environment.

Here’s the cool part, horses actually help with that. Their slow breathing and steady heart rhythms have been shown to help calm the human nervous system, making it easier for kids and caregivers to connect and enjoy the moment together.

We’re offering this program for free for Foster, Adoptive, and Kinship families, because we see how hard you’re working, and we want to support your families in every way we can.

Space is limited. For more details and to register visit steadfastsupport.org.

With this funding, we will provide specialized trainings, support groups, and Family Support Partners, helping caregiving families of children with disabilities by expanding access to disability‑informed care, guidance, and community connection.

We’re grateful to Ability Central for partnering with us to expand access and remove barriers.
