💛 **Harper has spent her whole life taking care of everyone else... now it’s finally her turn.** 💛

When we found Harper, she was living on a construction site, doing everything she could to keep her day-old puppies alive. Despite the unimaginable conditions, she never gave up on her babies.

Fast forward to today... every single one of her puppies has found a loving forever home. Now it’s Harper’s turn to be chosen. 🥹

Harper is a 33-pound terrier blend and truly the perfect medium-sized companion. She is incredibly friendly with everyone she meets, loves other dogs, and has a easygoing personality. She rarely barks, is wonderfully independent, and would make an amazing hiking buddy, walking partner, or simply someone to relax with at home.

Her current foster works full-time, so Harper is already accustomed to being home on her own during the day and does great with that routine.

After everything she’s been through, all we want is for Harper to finally know what it feels like to have a family of her own.

💔 Freddie needs our help. 💔

When we found Freddie, this sweet Chihuahua/Lab mix was somehow surviving on the streets with a devastatingly broken leg. Despite the pain he must have been in, all he wanted was love. We rushed him to the veterinarian, hoping his leg could be saved.

The X-rays revealed heartbreaking news—his leg is completely broken and detached. Unfortunately, it cannot be repaired, and the only humane option is to amputate the leg to give Freddie a pain-free future.

The good news? Dogs are incredibly resilient, and tripods live amazing, happy lives. Once Freddie heals, he’ll finally be able to run, play, and experience life without constant pain.

Today, we’re asking our community to help us get him there.

The City of Encinitas is a proud partner of Cardiff 101 Main Street’s 21st Annual Cardiff Dog Days of Summer! 🐾

Join us on Sunday, August 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Encinitas Community Park for a fun-filled day celebrating our community and its four-legged friends.

This year’s event features more than 100 dog-related vendors, rescue groups, dog contests, a VIP experience, live music, corgi and dachshund races, and new activities like dog yoga. You can relax in the libation lounge, grab a bite from local food vendors, and take advantage of free and low-cost pet services offered by the City’s animal services partner, San Diego Humane Society.

The event is free and friendly, leashed dogs are welcome 🐶. We will have all of these pups available and more available for adoption and we have same-day adoptions!

The rescue will work with you to find a foster dog that fits your lifestyle, home and experience level. We want fostering to be a positive experience for everyone involved, for you and the dog!

The dog you welcome into your home, opens up a spot for us to save more dogs off of the streets and from kill shelters!

We know you’ll be excited to show off your new foster pup, but give them time to decompress and adjust to you, your pets, and their new environment before introducing them to lots of new people.

Whether you work full-time, live in an apartment, don’t have a yard, or can only foster for a week or two we still need you. Every foster home saves lives!

People often say they could never foster because they’ll be too sad when the dog gets adopted. But what would be even Saier is leaving that dog in a kill shelter or on the streets without a chance.

The rescue provides everything you need including food, a crate, a bed, toys, treats, supplies, and all veterinary care. You provide the love and safe place for them to land while they wait for their forever family. Fostering isn’t forever, but the impact you make last a lifetime! 🐶🤎

Watching these 12 puppies experience their very first bath was a reminder of why we do this. 💛

Just hours before, they were living outside in the woods in 110° heat, trying to survive. Now they’re safe, clean, loved, and getting everything they need to grow into healthy puppies.

But the truth is, rescue alone will never solve this crisis.

The only way we stop seeing litter after litter born into suffering is through **spay and neuter**. Prevention saves lives before rescue ever has to. Every family that gets fixed means fewer puppies struggling to survive on the streets.

A huge thank you to Erin Hellbusch who stepped up to foster this precious family. Because she opened her home, we were able to say “yes” and give these puppies the future they deserve. Foster homes truly save lives.

Together, we can change the story—one rescue today, and one spay/neuter tomorrow. ❤️🐾

Before I started rescue, I probably would have posted photos of myself without makeup, with messy hair, exhausted, covered in dog hair, or wearing the same rescue clothes for the third day in a row.

Then rescue changed me. The dogs changed me.

Somewhere between bottle-feeding puppies at 2 a.m., rushing sick dogs to the emergency vet, scrubbing mange treatments off my arms, crying over the ones we couldn’t save, and celebrating the ones we did... I stopped caring about being perfect.

The dogs taught me what actually matters and what true beauty is.

Compassion.
Empathy.
Hard work.
Commitment.
Actions.
Showing up, even when you’re tired.
Doing the right thing.
Loving without expecting anything in return.

These photos aren’t glamorous. They’re real. They capture thousands of moments spent with dogs who needed someone to believe in them.

Rescue has made me a better person than I ever could have become by chasing perfection.

So here’s to the messy hair, the makeup-free face, the dirty clothes, and the full heart. I wouldn’t trade this life for anything.

The dogs never cared what I looked like. They only cared that I showed up. ❤️🐾
