I got to do something really exciting this week. I was interviewed by Marie Coronel 10News at 10News – ABC San Diego KGTV, and we talked about something I care deeply about: why waiting until a crisis hits is the most expensive decision a family can make.
I met Maryann Stroh at Paradise Village Retirement Community here in San Diego, and honestly, people like her are exactly why I wrote my book, While You Still Have Time. She planned ahead. She made her wishes known. And because of that, her family isn't guessing, scrambling, or fighting over decisions in a hospital hallway.
Not every family is that lucky. I've seen both sides, and the difference is heartbreaking.
This book is for anyone who loves someone who is aging. That's most of us.
If you've been meaning to have "that conversation" with your parents, or with your own kids, this is your nudge. It doesn't have to be hard. It just has to happen.
Thankful to JoAnn Fields for helping set this up and creating awareness of the importance of seniors and their families to be proactive.
