🐣 EASTER SUNDAY OUTREACH — Factory Farms Awareness Action
📅 Sunday, April 5th, 2025 | 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Mission Bay Park, San Diego, CA

JOIN US for a community outreach event at Mission Bay Park this Easter Sunday! While families gather to celebrate, we’ll be connecting with the public about something that affects everyone — factory farms right here in the San Diego area.

WHAT WE’LL BE DOING:
We’ll be approaching park-goers in a friendly, informative way to:

✅ Raise awareness about factory farms operating in and around San Diego
✅ Educate the community on the scale and conditions of these facilities
✅ Introduce people to the Factory Farms Watch website — a powerful public tool that allows anyone to:
• Search the brands they buy and eat every day
• Look up the farm where animals were raised
• View documented environmental and OSHA violations
• Find out how much taxpayer money a farm received in government bailouts following bird flu outbreaks in poultry and dairy operations

WHY THIS MATTERS:
Coloring eggs is a cultural part of the Easter holiday. Yet, what society has peddled as harmless family fun is really celebrating an industry of torture and cruelty. We have egg factory farms in San Diego county and these innocent animals are being exploited right here close to home. This action is meant to raise awareness of the cruelty that is inherent to modern egg farming, and to celebrate and encourage the harm-reductive options that are available to us (such as vegan egg products and vegan easter candy).

Bird flu outbreaks have led to massive government payouts to factory farm operators — paid for by taxpayers. Meanwhile, many of these same facilities have documented environmental violations and unsafe conditions. The public deserves to know.
All are welcome. This is a peaceful, educational event.

In recognition of World Aquatic Animals Day, we are demanding that Petco stop selling animals entirely, including fish, parrots, and all other animals.
WHEN: Friday April 3rd
WHERE: Petco Headquarters, 10850 Via Frontera, San Diego, CA 92127
TIME: 11:00am-1:00pm

Fish are sentient beings who thrive in complex ecosystems. In captivity, animals like these suffer immensely. Those sold in stores like Petco are bred in horrifically cruel breeding conditions, and some are even kidnapped from the wild. Many suffer and die during the breeding process, during shipping, in stores, and even after being purchased.
Animals are not commodities. We must end the breeding and sale of animals for profit. Join us as we take that message directly to one of the largest pet retailers in the country.

Last night at
We’ve been asking nicely to make a promise, a public commitment that Petaluma Poultry will never appear on their menu again.
But we are still waiting for this commitment!
Petaluma Poultry kills 49,000 chickens every single day. Their farms hold hundreds of thousands of sick, suffering birds. Investigators have documented animals so injured and diseased they cannot even walk to food or water. Birds with open wounds. And birds still fully conscious when they enter the scalder, boiled alive!!
This is not an isolated incident. This is their system.

Join us this Sunday, March 1st from 11am–1pm at the Hillcrest Farmers Market for a community outreach event.

We’re sharing FactoryFarmWatch.org, a new DxE project featuring an interactive map of California’s largest factory farms and slaughterhouses. Most Californians care about basic animals and don’t support factory farming — but the industry relies on secrecy and “humane” marketing to hide the truth.

This map removes the ambiguity. It links directly to images and videos from DxE investigations documenting the reality inside these facilities, giving people the tools to make informed, evidence-based decisions about what they choose to consume and support. It’s a resource designed to combat corporate lies and humane-washing by companies profiting off animal cruelty.

We hope the Hillcrest Farmers Market — a place where people care about their food — will be a powerful space to connect, raise awareness, and inspire people to stop supporting these industries and help spread the word.

We will provide leaflets and all the information necessary to reach people and talk to them about the negative effects of factory farms.

Come say hi, be part of the conversation and stay for lunch at Veganic after the outreach action.

Thanks .goat for the graphic design! ✊🏾

There are 1300+ factory farms in California that collectively confine over 80 million animals. For the first time ever, you can now see exactly where these operations are, how many animals they exploit, their greenhouse gas emissions, the consumer brands they supply, and more. FactoryFarmWatch.org is the most comprehensive single source of information on California’s enormous factory farming industry. It’s not just a website, it’s a platform for action.
👉 Ho to our bio to sign the petition to state leaders at FactoryFarmWatch.org and join the movement to end factory farming in California. For the hens packed into crowded, three-story warehouses, never feeling the sun and the baby cows torn from their mothers and confined to tiny crates, we will make factory farming an issue that our state leaders can no longer ignore.

JOIN THE CALL AND THE MOVEMENT TO END FACTORY FARMING IN CALIFORNIA!!

DxE just published FactoryFarmWatch.org, an interactive map and database of the 1300+ largest factory farms in California, sharing exactly where these operations are, how many animals they confine, their greenhouse gas emissions, the consumer brands they supply, investigation footage, and more.

But we’re not just mapping these factory farms. We’re building the momentum needed to shut them down.

Join the all-hands call on Wednesday, Feb. 18th at 7:00pm PT where you can learn how to use this new tool and how you can take action online and in person to help end factory farming in California. Everybody is invited, tell your friends!!

Join on Zoom with the link dxe.io/ffwcall and feel free to invite others.

Together, we will create the momentum and capacity to end factory farming in California, and when California acts, the world follows.

We stand in solidarity with immigrants and everyone who has been harmed by ICE.
The horrific murders of Alex Pretti, Renee Good, and Keith Porter Jr are the tip of the iceberg. Last year, 32 people died in ICE custody, the highest number in 20 years!
We must act now to stop ICE’s violence and terror. ICE has been terrorizing vulnerable people for decades.
In addition to the direct harm ICE is causing to humans, they are also causing suffering and death for animals.
Untold numbers of companion animals have been left without care when their guardians are kidnapped by ICE or deported. Many have ended up in already overwhelmed shelters, where they are at risk of euthanasia.

Protesting the last Padres Rodeo at Petco Park, and a reminder of why it should be the last.

On January 27, 2026, a San Diego Superior Court judge ruled that the rodeo at Petco Park could continue for now, rejecting a full ban despite serious animal cruelty allegations. But the decision came with telling concessions: pregnant horses are now banned, and organizers are required to provide enhanced, on-site veterinary care and proper emergency equipment.

The judge cited the 2025 death of a pregnant horse, Pearl Necklace, calling it “foreseeable and preventable.” He also rejected the Padres’ claim that they were just renting the space, ruling they had real control over event management and animal safety.

While events like bull riding, calf roping, and steer wrestling were allowed to continue, the court acknowledged needless suffering in specific cases—an admission animal advocates have been saying all along.

This wasn’t a win for rodeos. It was proof that harm was real, oversight was lacking, and change was forced only after tragedy.

Thank you to the activists who showed up, protested, and refused to stay silent, and to who fought this battle in court for the animals. ✊

This weekend!! Say no to the

Shame on the Padres, PETCO, Todd Gloria and the San Diego City Council for not cancelling this cruel event and allowing this to happen again.
We will protest outside the entrance to the rodeo. All materials provided, but please feel free to bring your own!
Animals used in rodeos have suffered fatal injuries, including broken backs and necks, heart attacks, and aneurysms. Those who manage to make it through unscathed are given little time to rest or recuperate. They are loaded into trucks, hauled to the next event, and forced to participate over and over again. When they become too old or worn out to continue, “retirement” is often a one-way trip to the slaughterhouse.

There is nothing kind about rodeos, they are extreme animal abuse.
There will also be an opportunity for for a few people to do outreach.

Meet up location TBA, stay tuned and contact Ellen Ericksen for any questions regarding these protests!

*** This is not a DxE protest, but we fully support this event and the campaign against the San Diego Padres Rodeo!
