“Before the Covid-19 pandemic, migrants were given low wages and benefits and were denied regular status and union rights even as they performed jobs that were often dirty, dangerous and demanding. Aside from facing job insecurity, they were also frequently excluded from social protection.

“At the same time, they always faced racism and xenophobia in the places where they work and reside. Some politicians and various ultranationalist groups depict them as stealing jobs and services that supposedly rightfully belong to natives of receiving countries. They were blamed for the joblessness and privatization of social services that are the effects of neoliberal policies implemented by the same elites that scapegoat them.”

Dissatisfied with the corporate Democratic and Republican Party platforms? Join the International League of Peoples' Struggle and International Migrants Alliance on an interactive discussion of alternative demands we should push as grassroots organizations and what a socialist solution can look like.

ILPS US and IMA US will present the Peoples' Platform and Migrants Grassroots Agenda, a living set of demands developed by grassroots groups, to the audience for discussion and feedback.

We will be joined by Margaret Kimberley of Black Agenda Report and Black Alliance for Peace for a critical analysis on the recent Democratic and Republican National Conventions. We will also have Wisconsin-based activists from Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) report back on the Kenosha rallies that happened shortly after the DNC in Milwaukee. These rallies were demanding justice for Jacob Blake and the victims of killer Kyle Rittenhouse and was met with state repression from the feds and local police.

TOMORROW-- Join us for a march and rally to demand justice for Dennis Carolino, Toby Diller, Keith Crenshaw, and Carlos Soto. The San Diego District Attorney shamelessly cleared charges for the cops that shot them. We demand justice for all victims of police brutality!

The natural beauty of the Philippines makes it a tourist attraction. But if the Philippines is so rich, why are the vast majority of its people living in abject poverty? Why are 90% of our people workers and peasants, doing backbreaking work with hardly any benefit? Most importantly, what can we do about it? How can we create a free and democratic Philippines that serves the people? Join us to learn how Filipinos have answered this question to build a mass movement and to actively build a new society. Join us to learn how you can get involved!

Rodrigo Duterte’s 5th State of the Nation Address (SONA) will be held on July 27. This will take place in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the worst economic crisis in history, and the intensifying fascist repression of the people under a de facto martial rule. In the face of the unparalleled severity of this crisis, we are calling on our community and allies to join us as we hold this historic protest rally in San Diego.

We will be holding a protest rally, a People's State of the Nation Address to expose the real conditions in the Philippines and rally people in the fight vs Duterte's dictatorship.

This rally also aims to further our demands for the following: (initial list)
1. End U.S. Support for the Duterte regime, cut U.S. aid now!
2. For Rep. Juan Vargas to introduce the Philippine Human Rights Act
3. End San Diego Police Department and Philippine National Police relationship (joint trainings, etc)

What: Protest Rally vs Duterte's Dictatorship (People's State of the Nation Address)
When: Sunday, July 26
Time: 4:00pm-6:00pm
