May 7, 2019 — we remember.
Today we honor Kendrick Castillo, a true hero.In a moment of unimaginable fear at the STEM School Highlands Ranch shooting, Kendrick chose courage. He rushed toward danger to stop a gunman—an act that gave others precious seconds to hide, escape, and live.
Because of him, lives were saved.
We remember not only his bravery, but his kindness, his future, and the love he gave to those around him.
At School Safety Institution, we extend our deepest respect and condolences to Kendrick’s parents and family. Your son’s courage will never be forgotten.
We also hold in our hearts the students who were injured and everyone affected that day. Your strength continues to inspire.
Kendrick Castillo is, and always will be, a hero. 🕊️

🇹🇷 SCHOOL VIOLENCE HAS NO BORDERS 🇹🇷

On April 7, 2026, in Kahramanmaras, Turkey, at Ayser Calik Secondary School, an 8th grade student took multiple lives, nine killed, thirteen wounded. The student was armed with guns taken from his father, a former police officer.
Our hearts stand with the families of the victims. At School Safety Institution, we grieve with you and call for urgent action. School violence does not stop at borders, prevention must be global.
Parents, educators, and communities, your role is vital. Build safety plans, stay vigilant, and let’s prevent these horrors before they happen.

This week, a tragic school shooting took place at a high school in Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, Mexico. A 15-year-old student took the lives of two women, María del Rosario Sagrero Chávez, a teacher, and Tatiana Madrigal Bedolla, an administrator, at the Instituto Educativo Antón Makárenko high school. This heartbreaking event reminds us that school violence knows no borders. We must stand together, no matter where we live, to demand safer schools and support for those impacted. Our thoughts are with the families and the community.

Today marks 8 years since the tragic shooting at Great Mills High School in Great Mills, Maryland.
We remember Jaelynn Willey, a beautiful life taken far too soon. A daughter, a friend, a student who should still be here today. 💔
There are no words that can truly hold the weight of this loss. No family should ever have to carry this kind of pain.
We refuse to let her be just a memory. We refuse to stay silent.
We are calling for real change, stronger school safety plans, transparency, and real parent involvement to protect every student who walks into a classroom.
Because this should have never happened. And it should never happen again.
Download our School Safety Plan in our bio and stand with us. Let’s turn grief into action. Let’s protect our children.
