Angels of Warriors

Angels of Warriors Supporting Children & Families of Individuals faced with life threatening diseases.

We help children, individuals and families fighting life threatening diseases (such as cancer) by giving them financial, physical, and emotional support. The support we give goes directly to the individual and family for immediate and long term help. Some families may need financial support, where other families may need good, quality time together. We want our Warriors to have the tools to fight their disease with as little stress as possible.

Today was a Beautiful day with a great Father and Son ❤️. Bobby lives in LA, but after being diagnosed with brain cancer his home is The Ronald McDonald house here in San Diego. He is a 17 year old high school student and a 4 sport athlete and loves football! He is missing his friends and teenage life. Most of the kids at the Ronald McDonald House are young, so he gets lonely. If anyone feels like giving, A Care package sent to the Ronald McDonald house for this 17 year old young man would brighten up his days. 😍 Bobby is receiving Proton Therapy and will be here until December. Good thoughts and prayers are needed. Thank you!!!

What a great day for a San Diego Chargers game! Not only did we get a win, but we also got to host this amazing family. Robert (Dad) and Bobby (Son and Warrior) enjoyed some real SD spirit and time away from the hospital during Bobby's proton treatment therapy. Special thanks to the chargers player Dwight Lowery for the ticket donations, row 11! We even got to see him score in the end zone near our seats!

A SPECIAL THANK YOU NOTE...

At the Petco Park stadium on Tuesday for the Petco Park - 86th Annual MLB All-Star Game, they did a beautiful tribute to the people who have fought for their lives against cancer. I got to watch it on TV as the entire stadium held up cards for a loved one and shared their own experiences with one another. I was moved and inspired by this and it really got me thinking about how EACH AND EVERY ONE of us has been impacted by this horrible disease. Even more so, how much our support to those going through "the fight" means. This is our sole reason for existing as a nonprofit. To bring us all together to help support one another.

THANK YOU for being a part of our Angels of Warriors family; of our community of people who continues to give to those families in need. This is a FAMILY FIGHT. And thank you to StandUpToCancer for making that special moment happen.

With love,

Renee (and the Mills Family / Angels of Warriors)

Angels of Warriors would like to Wish all our Family, Friends, and Supporters a very Safe and Happy 4th of July!

Fourth of July Safety Tips
The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center offers the following tips:

Never leave alcoholic drinks unattended where pets can reach them. Alcoholic beverages have the potential to poison pets. If ingested, the animal could become very intoxicated and weak, severely depressed or could go into a coma. Death from respiratory failure is also a possibility in severe cases.

Do not apply any sunscreen or insect repellent product to your pet that is not labeled specifically for use on animals. Ingestion of sunscreen products can result in drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, excessive thirst and lethargy. The misuse of insect repellent that contains DEET can lead to neurological problems.

Always keep matches and lighter fluid out of your pets’ reach. Certain types of matches contain chlorates, which could potentially damage blood cells and result in difficulty breathing—or even kidney disease in severe cases. Lighter fluid can be irritating to skin, and if ingested can produce gastrointestinal irritation and central nervous system depression. If lighter fluid is inhaled, aspiration pneumonia and breathing problems could develop.

Keep your pets on their normal diet. Any change, even for one meal, can give your pet severe indigestion and diarrhea. This is particularly true for older animals who have more delicate digestive systems and nutritional requirements. And keep in mind that foods such as onions, chocolate, coffee, avocado, grapes, raisins, salt and yeast dough can all be potentially toxic to companion animals. Please visit our People Foods to Avoid Feeding Your Pets page for more information.

Do not put glow jewelry on your pets, or allow them to play with it. While the luminescent substance contained in these products is not highly toxic, excessive drooling and gastrointestinal irritation could still result from ingestions, and intestinal blockage could occur from swallowing large pieces of the plastic containers.

Keep citronella candles, insect coils and tiki torch oil products out of reach. Ingestion can produce stomach irritation and possibly even central nervous system depression. If inhaled, the oils could cause aspiration pneumonia in pets.

Never use fireworks around pets! While exposure to lit fireworks can potentially result in severe burns and/or trauma to the face and paws of curious pets, even unused fireworks can pose a danger. Many types contain potentially toxic substances, including potassium nitrate, arsenic and other heavy metals.
Loud, crowded fireworks displays are no fun for pets, who can become frightened or disoriented by the sound. Please resist the urge to take them to Independence Day festivities, and opt instead to keep them safe from the noise in a quiet, sheltered and escape-proof area at home.

Be prepared in the event that your pet does escape by downloading the ASPCA Mobile App. You’ll receive a personalized missing pet recovery kit, including step-by-step instructions on how to search for a lost animal in a variety of circumstances. And keep your pets’ IDs up to date! It’s a good idea for all your animal companions—even indoor-only pets—to always wear a collar with an ID tag that includes your name, current phone number and any relevant contact information. July 1 is National ID Your Pet Day, which serves as an annual check-in to make sure your pets’ identification tags and microchip information is up to date.
