Water Station changes to Cellular Rescue
After 25 years Water Station has ended its original mission.
In the year 2000 Water Station was founded due to the large numbers of heat related deaths in the El Centro desert region.
In the early years we had as many as 340 stations ranging from Anza Borrego to near Yuma. Originally the death toll was 29 in 2000. That yearly number has dropped significantly although it is still not zero.
There is still significant risk in our southern California desert, but migration patterns have changed and many would be victims are able to self-rescue by calling 911 for help. There are now more desert areas with cell carriers like AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile than there were in 2000. There are still a few remaining areas without cell coverage but perfection is rare.
Water Station volunteers were the backbone that kept this 501(c) (3) Non-Profit All Volunteer organization alive these 25 years. To all and each one of them, our respect and deepest appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
We are extremely grateful to our donors through the years, for their contributions to help us with our mission.
We have changed our name to Cellular Rescue and our new mission is installing Cell Towers in a deadly region of Arizona known as the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge.
This region is the deadliest desert area in North America with over 30 yearly deaths in Cabeza Prieta, 11 yearly deaths in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and more in the Air Force Bombing Range.
We are making progress on our new project.

Death in the Growler ValleyThe full-length documentary is set to release in 2025 in order to help raise visibility. The massive number of deaths in Cabeza Prieta has been underreported. Therefore, getting the word out is ongoing and very important.
