We are devastated to learn of the catastrophic wildfires overwhelming Maui and the surrounding Hawaiian islands. Our hearts go out to all of the Surfrider activists, chapters, friends and family that are being impacted by these fast-moving flames. We hope the local communities are able to seek safety and shelter as officials work to contain the fires.

Sometimes we must intervene with Mother Nature to help in the survival of endangered animals. Without our help, the likelihood that these eggs would survive would greatly be reduced. Remember, the ocean and her inhabitants were here before us. Please be extra mindful when making choices that could affect our environment and our oceans.

The eggs were taken to Padre Island National Seashore Division of Sea Turtle Science.
