The Birth Of Rotary Club of San Diego Paradise Valley
"An Invigorating Dream"
Around the year 1992, a group of visionaries and humanitarian-inspired medical professionals and businessmen banded together in order to form an organization that would respond to the call of humanitarian service and assistance to the needy and the poor of the world. Motivated purely by altruism, and the desire
to share to others the abundance of whatever blessings have been endowed to them in the pursuit of their respective livelihoods, that dream has become a reality and, in fact, has enabled the group to go to several foreign shores which included Kenya, India, Vietnam and various places in the Philippines. The civic activities which included weekly meetings, monthly educational health lectures, the holding of yearly fundraising Luaus and Health Fairs were the toppings in the main dish which is to become the signature identifying mark of the Club- the medical missions and the "Misiones Rizalinas," the club mission dedicated to prevent blindness among diabetic people through the use of modern technology including the "laser machine." The club was then known under a different name and for several years carried on with its brand of accomplishments worthy of recognition. With the challenge of evolution and growth, however, the club ventured to pursue its award winning humanitarian program under a different name two years ago. Under the banner of Paradise Valley Global Medical Mission, the club was intent on developing an awareness not only among the club members but most importantly its patronizing public that serving others and helping them achieve their health goals is a universal obligation for everyone and can be pursued by anyone regardless of the nomenclature and identity of the organization he represents. On June 16, 2004, the club members accepted the Charter of Rotary International fully aware that the charisma of the organization and the people who compose it will bring dynamism and invigorate us further in our mission to serve the greatest good to the greatest number.
