AmateurPianists

Celebrating the amateur pianist with news, links, photos and video. You are invited and encouraged to post.

AmateurPianists was founded to give the non-professional classical pianist performing opportunities through recitals, gala events, masterclasses and San Diego's first international amateur piano competition. Anyone can contribute a post, photo, or video on this page—in fact, it is desired! Visit www.AmateurPianists.org for more videos, comments and upcoming news.

Amateurpianists.org is very proud to announce that its Chair, Sonya Schumann, has won the prestigious 2026 "Yamaha 40 Under 40 Award for Excellence in Music Education". This highly competitive award (there were hundreds of nominees) is awarded to individuals who consistently go "above and beyond" in teaching, and advancing music education in their studios, classrooms, institutions, and communities. We at AP know "first hand" that Sonya does those things on a daily basis! Congratulations Sonya! https://hub.yamaha.com/music-educators/40-under-40/2026/schumann-sonya/
