Fiesta Island for Everyone

Fiesta Island for Everyone Our group includes members of several paddling clubs located on Mission Bay. They include SDOCC, Kai Elua, HanoHano, and Ikuna Koa.

We represent the paddling community in discussions with the local and city government regarding the inclusion of an aquatic center in Fiesta Island redevelopment plan. Additionally, we believe Fiesta Island to be a multi-use resource for all San Diegans.

Plan 5f, approved by Mission Bay Council on 1/12/11. Element 3: Beach and Aquatic Uses, illustrates that due to safety factors, water quality, and quick access to the ocean, the location Southwest Corner is best suited for water sports, such as outrigger canoe paddling, dragon boating, and SUP.

Fiesta Island is more than a city park operated under San Diego Park and Recreation to some, it is a place where cyclists ride bicycles, dog owners run or walk in the sand with their dogs off-leash and paddlers can launch their boats on calm waters.
