Back Country Horsemen of Missouri (BCHMO) is part of the Back Country Horsemen of America. As such, BCHMO coordinates activities throughout Missouri to keep Missouri’s public trails open to ho

rsemen. BCHMO is organized in accordance with our by-laws as well as our policies and procedures. Back Country Horsemen of Missouri is a Missouri Not-for-Profit Corporation and a 501(c)3 Social Welfare Organization. Purposes of Back Country Horsemen of Missouri
Perpetuating common sense use and enjoyment of Missouri’s back country and wilderness areas. Assisting Missouri and Federal government agencies in maintaining public equestrian and multi-use trails. Educating government officials and the general public on equestrian use of public trails. Challenges
Equestrian access to public lands is being challenged nation-wide by increased competition for trail use, reduced budgets for trail maintenance at all levels of government and misconceptions about the impact horses have on trails. The equestrian community needs to earn a ‘seat at the table’ where ever decisions are being made about equestrian access to public trails or face the likelihood of further reductions in trails open to horseback riders. Tri-Lakes is the largest land area chapter of Backcountry Horsemen of Missouri, as part of Backcountry Horsemen of America. We are working to earn a ‘seat at the table’ and promote the interests of all horsemen who enjoy using our public lands. We need many members to cover the large area we serve. Together, we will make a difference!

Tri-Lakes Chapter and riders! Correction on previous post concerning road closures near Lead Mine. The road will be closed from the old Lead Mine store to Meadow Dutch Market tomorrow , February 11,2026. If you were planning to ride Lead Mine C.A. be aware of this road closures and controlled burn planned by MDC tomorrow!

Heads up Tri-Lakes riders and others who ride at Lead Mine Conservation Area. MDC is conducting a controlled burn tomorrow, February 11,2026. Also the road will be closed from the old Lead Mine store north to the Bakery . Weather has been great for riding. Just a caution information!

IT'S TIME - IT'S TIME!! This Saturday, January 17th, is almost here and that means our Tri-Lakes Chapter planning meeting for 2026! It also means a great noon meal for everyone. See you at:
Elkland Lions Club Building.
Door opens at 11:30 a.m. Meal at 12:00 noon!
Meeting to follow after we are all full and wanting a nap. But, NO. There is too much to learn about our Chapter's goals for 2026. See you there!
Bring your riding friends and family. Anyone interested is welcome. One doesn't need to be a member. We love horse people!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR - Tri-Lakes Chapter and Friends! With the new year comes our first Chapter meeting along with a great noon meal to start off the new year in style! Please make every effort to attend this annual meeting. Not all can come to the work events and that is understandable. Do not let that deter you from your needed support by your presence at this important meeting. There is much to share with members concerning our chapter.
WHEN: January 17, 2026.
PLACE: Elkland Lions Club Building. 1554 State Hwy AA. Elkland, MO 65644
TIME: Noon. Doors open 11:30.
Feel free to bring side dish or dessert. Not required.
