We lost a wonderful human with a loving and giving soul. More than a decade of friendship in rescue and we are still
Processing such a huge loss for her family and the Hero the animals lost. She was a champion for them and fellow rescuers. If you knew cynthia you know she did it for the well-being of animals and the humans who tried helping them. Our condolences for Cynthia España husband and 3 children who lost the heart of the family and her second family Dog Rescue Without Borders team members and friends. Yesterday our co-founder, rescuer, and foster, one of the souls of Dog Rescue without Borders, left this world to rejoice in heaven.
Cynthia did so much for this world, especially for innocent dogs and cats. She saved thousands!

Thank you, Cynthia, for all the hard work, for saving so many lives, and for being a great friend and person.
Rest in peace, our dear friend. We will miss you and know you will be helping from heaven.

Euthanasia is spoken on this post. If you’re a rescuer (or not) and the last thing you want to hear is PTS animals this may not be the video to hear for you. Sweetie, Max and Morris are an adorable trio of kittens from Tijuana, Mexico. Now in San Diego. At casa de ARWOB. They’ve been denied entry at local rescues or shelters because they are FELV positive. ARWOB does NOT accept Felv positive 🐈‍⬛ unless we have reliable long term foster secured. For many obvious reasons. When we take in cats and during vetting we find out it’s positive for feline leukemia will try to find foster or do a rescue to rescue transfer. Sadly, it’s rare to find rescue/shelter/sanctuary who has the means to not only accept felv kitties but to offer good quality of life ei NOT kennel and have volunteers or staff to truly provide quality of life vs too many cats in one room just “living”. Quality over quality. ALWAYS for us. Hence, we absolutely will euthanize Felv kitties but ALWAYS give them a chance to see if lucky to find a forever adopter or long term foster. It’s really different factors on how long we wait. In this case they are KITTENS, they have beautiful personalities and are currently Healthy and strong. No reason to rush things. We are making it work. But we have too many kitties in this home to play this Russian roulette of potential exposure to them even though we take all precautions but is also not fair for these young (actually ANY age cat) to live isolated for most if not all day. Short term while giving an opportunity we can absolutely work to do it and all we need is for the community to jump in and provide the last step in rescue which is choosing THEM.- DO NOT make emotional decisions just because you want to “save” these babies. If you choose to adopt or foster it must be because they call your name and have thought about the pros/cons and ability to take him, her, they ON for life. NOT infectious. Treatable with an excellent rate of survival.
I have to say. For ALL those who apply to adopt kittens because they just went through a loss of a kitty and “don’t want to go through a loss too soon by adopting and adult or another senior cat” … realistically kittens have a HIGHER chance of developing FIP when they turn into teenagers usually 6-18mo of age. It’s a Russian roulette. So, the pros of adopting teens, adults, seniors: they are highly unlikely going to develop FIP and you already know their personalities.

FIP is thankfully treatable, easy yet long treatment. Expensive ? Yes. Crazy expensive? Not anymore. But yet another reason you best obtain pet insurance within a month of taking in a new pet family member into your home.
Now, can someone get ON an actual diagnostic test for FIP. The treatment was found, can we develop a absolutely diagnostic test like a PCR or snap test so we don’t play Clue 🕵️ while adding all the clinical signs or little cbc/chem values to assume the cat is positive 🤣 😹
Thankfully every time we suspect an FIP patient it’s correct and recovered when treatment started. But having a test that can say 💯 FIP would be great!

San Diego Humane Society they fall on your jurisdiction can someone bring them in for intake on adoption? They are in danger and not wanted as community cats. Will comms with this group to bring a few in for intake to at least alíviate some hardship for them. Thanks

UPDATE: As of this morning I was finally able to trap the Mama cat, she is super sweet, but watching her four kittens be trapped understandably freaked her out. We have found them foster homes with other calm, friendly cats and are hopeful they were socialized by workers and guests enough to be adoptable soon. At least for now they are safely indoors. A total of 3 female kittens, one male kitten, and Mama from this location. We also trapped a female at another location that is known for being a prolific litter carrier. So that was a lot of girls that won't ever have to be mamas!

🚨 KNOWLEDGEABLE FOSTERS NEEDED IMMEDIATELY – SAN DIEGO 🚨

I am not exaggerating when I say these kittens need help NOW.

We need 2–3 fosters for several 12–14 week old kittens currently living in a prestigious beachfront commercial property on the beach. They cannot be returned to where they came from.

Before anyone suggests taking them to the San Diego Humane Society, these kittens are beyond the age where they typically qualify for the shelter’s socialization and adoption programs. If they enter the system, they are likely to be classified as community cats and returned ... the manager has made that very clear, even fixed they will not have a soft landing.

Returning them is not an option. Don’t comment if you can’t foster. We know this is wrong, but we can’t fix it. We can only problem solve with knowledgeable foster homes.

Their mother is also at risk. She is an EXTREMELY friendly cat who should never have been living outside. She was trapped, spayed, ear-tipped, and returned by some other rescue, despite being sooooo affectionate and social with people.

The kittens are NOT wild. Construction workers regularly interacted with them when they were younger, and they remember human contact. They aren’t aggressive, just undersocialized. With patience and consistency, they can absolutely become wonderful indoor cats. We simply need the right fosters to help them get there.

• Patience and time to work with shy kittens (expect 3 months)
• A safe indoor space

These kittens have a chance. But without foster homes, that chance disappears. It may disappear in a really bad way from what was inferred….

Zoey is Loosing her Foster right before 4th July weekend. Will she be adopted by then OR can we secure foster to start first week July? Zoey is a 34lb shepherd mix SF 6 months. Fantastic with children, cats, dogs. Here is what her foster dad has to say about her: Zoey has been such a great dog to foster. She has had very few accidents in the house and is already learning our daily routine. She knows when it’s time for walks, meals, naps during the day, and bedtime in her crate. She does extremely well in her crate and never cries or makes a fuss. She is incredibly loving and will gently paw at you whenever she wants a little extra attention. Zoey loves being active and enjoys walks and runs, but she is still a puppy and tires herself out after a good adventure. We’ve also been working on basic manners, especially around food. She is learning not to beg while we eat, and when we tell her “no,” she listens and will calmly sit next to us instead. She truly wants to be with her people. Zoey does very well in new environments as well. She has loved the beach, paddle boarding in the bay, and friend’s houses. The only thing she has to work on is her anxiety in the car as she drools a lot, but that should get better with time. Overall, Zoey is a sweet, affectionate, and well-behaved puppy who is going to make an amazing dog for a very lucky family.…. When we say she’s a water dog.. this is what we mean 😂 Adoptable “Happy” is still available as of 5/29/26 and is now 25lbs and reaching 6mo healthy and vetted only thing she’s missing is a human (s) to choose this adorable Mexican mutt.
