Tomorrow, Wings of Rescue takes off from Riverside, California, bound for Seattle Humane with a plane full of large dogs.

Large dogs often wait longer in shelters and face greater risk of euthanasia simply because of their size.

But size has nothing to do with worth.

A big dog is no less loving, no less adoptable, and no less deserving of a family than a small one. The photo says it all: sometimes the dog who takes up the most room ends up taking up the biggest place in someone’s heart.

Moving large dogs takes more space and more resources, but that does not make their lives less valuable.

Tomorrow, we fly for them.

This weekend, we reached a monumental milestone by transporting our 95,000th shelter pet since our operations began, alongside our 10,000th pet of this year alone. This represents 2.5 million miles traveled from overcrowded shelters and directly into the open kennel spaces and welcoming arms of families waiting to adopt.

When we look ahead at our schedule, the work continues at full speed. This Tuesday, Saturday, and Monday, we have large-scale flights lined up, carrying hundreds of dogs and cats to safety, with even more bookings scheduled throughout the month.

To every single person who has stood by our side, thank you. You have made these thousands of chances at forever families possible.

However, our journey is far from over, and there are many ways you can continue to help us save lives. LIVE from Dallas. ✈️🐾

Meet Salt, our 95,000th pet flown since inception and our 10,000th pet of the year.

That is a lot to celebrate in one night.

At the same time, we are closely watching the hurricane and preparing for what may be needed next. And tomorrow morning, another Wings of Rescue flight will leave southern Florida.

Big milestones. Big responsibility. And a whole lot of lives still depending on us.

Tonight, Wings of Rescue will mark two milestones at once.

Salt will be our 95,000th pet flown since inception and our 10,000th pet flown this year alone, traveling to our partner in Pennsylvania- 3 Husketeers Rescue.

Ten thousand lives in one year is hard to picture. That is nearly 27 pets every single day getting another chance because a flight was there when they needed one.

And while we celebrate Salt, we are also preparing for what may come next.

Hurricane Isaias is bearing down on the Gulf Coast, with dangerous flooding, storm surge, and severe weather expected across parts of the Southeast. We have planes standing by and are actively preparing to assist hurricane-impacted communities with humanitarian aid and pet transport if needed.

The next call can come fast. Supplies may need to move. Shelter pets may need to be transported so local teams can focus on displaced animals and reunification.

So today, as we celebrate 95,000 lives and 10,000 this year, we are also asking you to help us prepare for the next emergency.

Tomorrow night, we load out of Texas for Maryland and New Jersey, while another Wings of Rescue flight moves pets on Saturday from California to Idaho.

Two back-to-back flights. More than 150 lives moved in a matter of hours.

This is what community looks like. Shelters, pilots, crews, partners, donors, and supporters all doing their part to get pets where they have a chance.

At the same time, we are closely monitoring Hurricane Isaias as it approaches the U.S. Gulf Coast and stands to impact communities across the Southeast. We are on standby to help with humanitarian aid and, when needed, move shelter pets out so local shelters can focus on reuniting displaced and found pets with their families.

This work changes by the hour. The mission does not.

This is what partnership looks like in real time. Some pets are moving by air with Wings of Rescue. Others are moving by ground with START Animal Rescue.

Different routes. Same goal.

There shouldn’t be an expiration date on a pet.

But when shelters are full and there is nowhere left to put the next dog or cat coming through the door, time becomes something they simply don’t have.

This week alone, Wings of Rescue will fly nearly 400 pets to partners in seven cities. Tuesday: 250 lives. Friday: another 140.

We wish pet overpopulation weren’t a crisis. We wish where a pet was born didn’t affect whether they had a chance to live. But wishing doesn’t change the reality in overcrowded shelters.

So we fly them to safety.

We move pets from communities where there simply aren’t enough homes to communities ready to welcome them, and we can only do it because you help make it possible.

95,000 is hard to picture.

So picture this:
If you lined up 95,000 pet crates end to end, they would stretch for roughly 45 miles.

That is the milestone Wings of Rescue is about to reach.

Nearly 45 miles of second chances.
45 miles of pets who needed somewhere else to go.
45 miles of lives moved out of overcrowded shelters and toward safety.

And every single mile was made possible by people who believed those lives were worth saving.

We’re almost at 95,000 pets flown.
