‼️ LIVE FROM GARDEN CITY, KANSAS

We just landed, but today this stop means so much more.

On what would have been Staff Sergeant Zach Scheiman’s 41st birthday, we touched down in Garden City to honor a fallen soldier, Air Force veteran, animal lover, and hero whose life was defined by service to others.

Zach’s family and friends are here as we remember the man they loved and the sacrifice he made.

And the best way we know to honor that legacy is to keep saving lives.

Our plane is filled with shelter pets headed toward new opportunities, and soon we’ll be back in the air, continuing on to Montana.

Today, we fly for Zach.

Happy birthday, hero. You are remembered.

93,000 pets transported to safety. And this one has a name: Sheriff of Nottingham. ❤️

Sheriff’s story began as an animal cruelty case. But that was never going to be where his story ended.

He boarded a Wings of Rescue flight and became the 93,000th pet we’ve transported to safety. On the other side, our incredible partners at Paws4Survival Rescue Inc. helped give Sheriff the opportunity he needed.

Then an incredible family saw his photo.

It was love at first sight.

Within days, Sheriff was wagging that enormous tail, following them from room to room, and settling into the life he was always meant to have.

From cruelty case to pet #93,000 to forever family.

This is the power of flight.

We can’t change where their stories begin. But together, we can help change how they end.

Thank you to every supporter who helps make these journeys possible.

Keep our wings in the air.

He Gave His Life Serving Others. This Weekend, We Fly in His Honor.

This weekend should have been Staff Sergeant Zach Scheiman's 41st birthday.
Instead, his family, friends, and community will gather as Wings of Rescue honors his life the best way we know how...by saving lives.

Zach was a U.S. Air Force veteran, an air traffic controller, and an extraordinary animal lover. He fed the feral cats at the airport, cared for friends' pets as if they were his own, and never hesitated to help someone in need.

When he saw people suffering, he answered the call to serve. He ultimately gave his life while protecting his teammates during a medical evacuation mission.

This weekend, a plane full of shelter pets will fly in Zach's honor. Before continuing on to new beginnings, the aircraft will land in Garden City, where his family will gather to recognize a son, a friend, a soldier, and a man whose courage continues to inspire.

Every pet on board is a reminder that one life can create a legacy far greater than itself.

Please join us in honoring Staff Sergeant Zach Scheiman by supporting the mission that carries his name forward.

Heroes are never forgotten when their compassion continues to change lives.

This weekend, we fly in honor of a hero.

Zach Scheiman was a son, nephew, cousin, friend, Airman, and deeply valued member of his community. He was also someone who showed extraordinary courage when it mattered most.

Our flight will carry a plane full of pets to safety, with a stop in Garden City to honor Zach before continuing on to Missoula, Montana, where receiving shelters will be waiting.

Most of us will never be called to make the kind of sacrifice Zach made. But every one of us can choose to do good.

We can foster. Volunteer. Adopt. Donate. Help a neighbor. Support a lifesaving flight. Show up when someone needs us.

We do not have to be heroes in the traditional sense. We just have to be good.

This weekend, we fly for Zach.

We wish our flights weren’t necessary.

The truth is, pet overpopulation is a much bigger problem than any one rescue, shelter, or transport organization can solve. Spay and neuter laws are often inadequate or unenforced, and for many families, the cost of surgery is simply out of reach.

So shelters fill. Good pets run out of time. And we fly.

This weekend, a large-scale flight will carry pets from overcrowded shelters to Missoula, Montana, where receiving partners are ready and anxiously awaiting their arrival.

We know transportation is not the solution to a broken system. It is a lifeline for the pets caught in it.

You can be part of the solution right where you live. Volunteer at your local shelter. Foster, even for a weekend. Take a dog out for the day. Donate towels or newspapers. Support a lifesaving flight.

Just choose to do something good. The world needs more of it.

A lot can happen in a matter of hours.

One photo shows this pup leaving an overcrowded shelter in a crate, with an uncertain future. The next shows the very same dog arriving to open doors, new opportunities, and the chance to find a family. With a smile on her face.

That is the difference a flight can make.

Right now, we’re busy preparing for our annual flight from Texas to Montana, a mission created to honor a hero and carry that legacy forward by giving more pets the opportunity for a new beginning.

A few hours in the air can change everything.

These are the moments that make every mile worth it.

The pets you’re seeing today once sat in overcrowded shelters with uncertain futures. Now, they’re home, loved, and part of families who cannot imagine life without them.

We’re eternally grateful to our receiving shelter partners for opening their doors, creating space, and helping build these families.

Do highly adoptable pets face euthanasia? Yes.
Puppies? Yes.
Large dogs? Yes.
Purebred dogs? Yes.
Cats? Also yes.

When a shelter is full, it’s full. It becomes a matter of space, not whether a pet is deserving, loving, or adoptable.

Wings of Rescue is honored to help change that equation by flying pets from overcrowded shelters to trusted partners with room and families waiting.

We create space. Our partners build families. And together, we save lives.

July reminded us what’s possible when people come together.

Together, we’ve now transported 93,046 pets to safety, flown 2.5 million miles, delivered more than 931,000 pounds of humanitarian and veterinary aid, and helped alter nearly 25,000 pets through our Operation Pit Stop and Operation Kit Stop programs.

Every number represents a life changed. A community supported.

As we turn the calendar to August, our flight schedule is already filling with lifesaving missions. Whether you donate, share our story, purchase our merchandise, volunteer, foster, adopt, or simply tell someone about Wings of Rescue, you’re helping make every takeoff possible.

Here’s to another month of flying hope.

Most people will never hear the sound that changes everything.

It's not applause. It's not a siren. It's the steady hum of an airplane carrying hope across the sky.

On board are dogs and cats who have no idea their lives are about to change. They don't know they're leaving overcrowded shelters behind. They don't know families are already waiting in communities where they'll have the chance to be seen, loved, and chosen.

To them, it's just another day.
To us, it's the moment that makes every mile worth flying.

Every rescue flight is powered by people who believe geography should never determine an animal's future. Pilots, shelter partners, volunteers, donors, and supporters all make these journeys possible.

Thank you for helping us turn distance into opportunity, one flight, one landing, and one new beginning at a time.
