‼️ Fourteen years ago, Wings of Rescue began with one small plane and a small group of volunteer pilots who believed the shelter crisis could be solved.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝. In many places, it only grew worse.

So we kept flying.

Behind every mile is a pet who ran out of time, a shelter that needed immediate relief, and a family waiting on the other side.

But in shelters across the country, that is the reality every day.

Dedicated shelter teams are caring for more pets than their buildings were ever designed to hold. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐝.

And when too many unaltered pets keep entering the system, impossible decisions follow. That is why Wings of Rescue flies.

Then this weekend, we’ll fly another planeload of pets from 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐚.

But 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 and moving on.

When we step into communities facing shelter overcrowding, crisis, or natural disasters, 𝐰𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲.

After Hurricane Dorian devastated The Bahamas in 2019,𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐝. We continued supporting long-term recovery, and that dedication remains today.

❓ We’re often asked if we can fly one pet to a destination.

That kind of transport matters, and there are great organizations and people doing that work. 𝐖𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐨.

🐶 It’s puppy and kitten season.

In most parts of the country, that comes in waves. It starts, it peaks, and it slows down. However, in the southern states, it doesn’t.

𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫, 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞. Intake doesn’t slow. Litters keep coming. Week after week.

That means shelters don’t get relief.

And when space fills up, horrible decisions have to be made.

Not just for large dogs, who are already at a disadvantage and often wait the longest, but also for puppies and kittens. Because kennel space is finite, and every kennel matters.

That’s the part most people don’t see. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐞𝐭 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲.

So we create it.

We move pets out of overcrowded regions and into communities with space, demand, and a real chance of a forever home.

Right now, we are wheels up to Portland, Oregon and Salt Lake City, Utah — and this is just today.

Hundreds of lives are on deck to fly between now and the end of May. Nearly a dozen flights. Real pets. Real chances at finding a family.

🐾 Late Friday night into Saturday morning, we flew from Los Angeles to Indiana, Maryland, and New York.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭. 𝐈𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞.

They showed up in the middle of the night to load the plane. Not because they had to. Because they wanted to be part of it. No spotlight. No recognition. Just showing up when it mattered.

These are not “last chance” pets in the way people think. The pets we fly are often puppies, kittens, purebred dogs, and family-ready pets who were at risk of euthanasia for one reason.
