Summer is almost here, and San Diego's lifeguards are preparing for another busy beach season.

As more families head to the coast, now is a great time to review beach safety, swim near a staffed lifeguard tower, and keep a close eye on children around the water.

Thank you to our lifeguards for the important work they do to help keep our beaches safe all summer long.

Heading to the beach or pool this Memorial Day weekend? Please remember to stay safe around the water 💙

Rip currents can happen quickly and are often difficult to spot. If caught in a rip current:
• Flip onto your back
• Float and stay calm
• Follow the current and swim parallel to shore when able

Always swim near a lifeguard, never swim alone, and know your limits.

Wishing everyone a fun and safe holiday weekend.
