Tree San Diego

Tree San Diego Tree San Diego is increasing San Diego County's urban forest with the right trees, in the right place

Tree San Diego is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that works to benefit the greater San Diego region by helping provide a healthier place to live, work and play. We work collaboratively with other organizations who contribute to environmental and human sustainability. We recognize that quality urban trees are one part a system that includes natural factors (other flora, fauna, soil, air, clima

te, etc.) and human factors (human health, hardscape, transportation, buildings, etc.). Tree San Diego works to benefit all of the county’s 18 cities, unincorporated areas, military bases, and Native American reservations. Get involved and help make San Diego County a healthier place to live, work and play.

Why Treejectory+?

Because environmental career pathways often begin with exposure, confidence, and connection.

Treejectory+ introduces participants to urban forestry, environmental stewardship, and green workforce opportunities through learning sessions, field experiences, and professional connections.

The program helps participants see how trees, communities, and careers are connected and how their own skills can contribute to a healthier future.
Treejectory+ is not just about learning trees. It is about growing people, skills, and future stewards.

This past fall, we had the opportunity to offer CanopyPower, a limited-term specialty module that brought clean-energy expertise into our Treejectory+ workforce program. Taught by Spencer Rosen of Home Energy Academy, participants explored how trees and solar systems aren’t competing. They’re designed to work together.

From heat load and building science to career pathways across clean energy and environmental health, this cohort walked away with a broader view of what’s possible in the green workforce. We’re proud of what this group accomplished and grateful to the partners who made it possible. Swipe to see the impact. 🌱

This program is funded by San Diego Community Power with additional support from San Diego Foundation and Calpine Community Power. This program is administered by San Diego Foundation.

Seen a tree explode into cascades of gold this summer?

Meet the Golden Medallion tree, one of San Diego’s most eye-catching (and recognizable) street trees.

Native to Brazil but built for our climate, it thrives in full sun, handles dry spells once established, and pulls in butterflies and pollinators all season long. Bonus: its seed pods stick around for a whole year, twisting into these wild black ribbons long after the blooms fade.
