Saving Horses, Inc. SHI was formed in 2007 to rescue horses from slaughter, abuse and neglect. It's illegal to transport horses to slaughter in Mexico from California. Please help!

The law is not enforced. We rescue horses at auction and off killer's feedlot.

The 2028 Olympic equestrian events will be held at Galway Downs in Temecula, California because it's the only facility in Southern California that can accommodate all three equestrian disciplines in one location:
This is a horrible idea...Its 101 degress there today with an excessive heat warning, and 101 is avergae for the summer, it can and will get hotter. When I used to participate in 3day eventing we would never event in temps over 90 degrees. Its brutal on horses and riders.

RIGSY had his eye surgery early February. His right eye had to be removed. He then spent 10 days at Trifecta rehabilitation center, as I had to go to Ireland. My 96 yr old Mother fell and broke her hip. I wanted to be sure Rigsy had the best care in my absence. He has done well and made a full recovery. He is back at the SHI ranch now with his new best friends. They were all so excited to have him back. He has been getting daily walks. Here he is with his trainer, Danica. The muzzle is necessary when he is hand walked because he bites. We are trying to break him of this nasty habit. He is getting less mouthy with time. He will be able to resume lungeing and long lining trot work this week.

Riggsey has been relaxing, eating, meeting his ranch mates and working a few days a week with our trainer Danica. He's very naughty! He's 3 and has alot to learn. He likes to bite so he is wearing a muzzle while being trained, and until he learns this behavior is unacceptable. He's a baby, an insecure 3 year old who needs to learn that he wont get his own way by throwing temper tantrums. We will be patient. He is learning.
He needs to go to San Luis Rey Equine Hospital for the removal of his right eye.
Dr Stokes spent quite some time with him last weekend. Xrays revealed arthritis in both hocks the right being the worst. Right fetlock arthritic too. IWRAP for this down the road will help him. Last Race Ranch is fundraising for his upcoming surgery, rehabilitation and ongoing care/training at SHI.

I picked up RIGGSALICIOUS today from Los Alamitos race track He has been retired from racing....Yeah!! He's 17hh 3 years old. No sight in right eye. He will be enjoying his rehabilitation at Saving Horses, Inc. What's there not to enjoy here? This is a working partnership with Last Race Ranch. I'm hoping he can transition into a lovely trail horse or lower level dressage horse for some lucky person. I will post his progress. Tonight he is chillin in the round pen next to his new besties, Buddy, Gadget. and Annie.

HOLLY has been at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital since Friday. The gastric impaction has been cleared and she is getting back on track. She so wanted to come home with me yesterday when I visited her.She's 30 years young. She's a love. Will need help with her bill, will post this need later
