Promises2Kids was thrilled to welcome Senator Akilah Weber Pierson, M.D. Pierson to our offices for a conversation about our ongoing efforts to expand support for current and former foster youth across San Diego.

We appreciated the opportunity to share the evolving needs of foster youth and highlight how Promises2Kids is strengthening services and providing support at every stage of their journey. We look forward to welcoming more elected officials to tour our campus and learn about our growing programs.

We are excited to announce that, with a very generous lead gift provided by Joan T. Waitt, our new campus will be named the Joan T. Waitt Campus for Brighter Futures.

Through our $25 million campaign, Investing in Dreams, Building on Promises, we can shape a place where foster youth have the space and support to build strong futures. Thanks to many project partners and donors, we've come a long way. We have raised $17.1 million, but still need nearly $8 million to make this dream a reality for foster children and youth.

We are happy to share our plans for our new campus, including enhanced programs and support by expanding Trauma-Informed Mental Health Care Services, launching an Early Education Center, and establishing a Collaborative Hub for Foster Care Partners. With the support of The Salvation Army San Diego and the The Salvation Army Kroc Center - San Diego, current and former Guardian Scholars, Foster Futures volunteers, and parents came together for an evening of connection, encouragement, and community. Because no one should have to navigate parenthood alone.

Thank you to our partners for helping create a space where families can learn, grow, and support one another!

Our Guardian Scholars and their families spent a picture-perfect summer day by the water thanks to the generosity of Mission Bay Yacht Club

For the 19th year, the club welcomed our foster youth and their loved ones to enjoy a day filled with sunshine, adventure, and connection. From kayaking across the bay and exploring the shoreline to sharing meals and laughter together, every moment was an opportunity to create lasting memories.

What makes this tradition truly special was the kindness of the Mission Bay Yacht Club members, volunteers, and staff, who opened not only their private beach but also their hearts. Their generosity provided a space where our youth could relax, have fun, and simply enjoy being together with family and friends.

Thank you, Mission Bay Yacht Club for helping create a day full of joy, belonging, and unforgettable summer memories.

Your energy, smiles, and support truly made the evening special. Take a look at some of our favorite moments from the event.
Share with friends and see the difference our community makes together.

Thank you for creating a brighter future for foster children. We hope you will join us again next year!

Room To Dream 2026 🏠

This year, 50 current and former foster youth had the chance to shop for the essentials they need as they transition into college, apartments, and independent living.

From essentials like bedding and cookware to bathroom supplies and home décor, each young person chose items to make their new space feel like home, with plenty of support, encouragement, and a little fun along the way.

Thank you to our generous donors, community partners, planning committee, and volunteers for helping make Room To Dream possible. Together, we’re helping foster youth take their next step toward independence with confidence, dignity, and hope. 💙

We’re honored to be the 2026 beneficiary of A Taste of Coronado! 💙

For 17 years, the Coronado Junior Woman’s Club has brought the community together to enjoy the best of Coronado’s restaurants, bars, and shops while giving back to local causes. This year, their support will benefit San Diego’s foster children through Promises2Kids.

As part of the event’s promotion, Crown City Magazine featured Foster Futures participant Aliyah and Promises2Kids CEO Tonya. Read the story below!

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re grateful to partner with Ticket to Dream Foundation & Famous Footwear to help the foster youth we serve connect with & celebrate their Hispanic heritage. With their support, we can continue creating meaningful opportunities for youth to learn more about their culture & celebrate their heritage. Thank you to everyone who rounded up their purchase at Famous Footwear stores & online & helped make these experiences possible for our foster youth!
