Yesterday, PCA for Life was proud to participate in the South Bay 5K Walk/Run, held at Pepper Park in National City and hosted by SoCal Stroke Survivors.
We were proud to show our support for SoCal's founder, Robert, and his mission to provide greater support and awareness for stroke survivors.
The event was a vibrant celebration, featuring mariachis, DJ Xavier the X-Man, food vendors, and the South Bay community.
The business community also demonstrated its sponsorship support, with the Port of San Diego, SHARP, Access Trax, OTNC Foundation, County of San Diego, Chicano Federation, Beauchamp Johnson, Philippine Medical Association, and many more in attendance

Congratulations Robert! Grand Opening of the SoCal Stroke Survivors office on 3rd Ave Chula Vista. Prostate Cancer Awareness for Life and OTNC Foundation share space there too, to provide information to the community.

Big Shout Out to CEO Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce Marcy Weaver for doing the Rubin cutting ceremony. Also Dukie Valderrama, OTNC Foundation.

This is just the beginning!

We’re on Capitol Hill DC today. Soooooo many people here lining up to go see the congressmen and senators! Lines at every building. And then there’s the looooooong walks from one building to another. We had to double step it to be on time.

We will go to Congressman Vargas office and Senator Schiff.

We have completed one day of training. The ZERO Prostate Cancer team has assigned us homework as we prepare to head to Capitol Hill to meet with Congressional and Senate representatives to discuss the importance of supporting prostate cancer initiatives.

Preparation is key. We are learning the game plan and practicing extensively to ensure we represent the organization effectively. It is a matter of persistence; we continue to advocate for our cause, knowing that consistent effort leads to results.

I have met many incredible people at this year’s advocacy summit. We plan to stay connected to share strategies for our respective communities. We have already developed several great ideas, including a new program for this year that I look forward to sharing with you.

It is sobering to realize that some of the individuals here today may not be with us next year due to their battle with this disease. Despite ongoing treatments, many of the attendees show incredible bravery and strength.

The past two days have been incredibly informative, meaningful, and emotional. Listening to the men and women who shared their personal experiences and hardships in fighting this challenging cancer was truly powerful. Their courage and resilience have inspired me to continue my journey of learning, raising awareness, and sharing hope. This experience has reinforced an important truth — this cancer can be fought, and it can be overcome.
