August 22 will be a discussion on the themes, big ideas, and intersections of sexuality, power, identity, and culture. This is the first book of its kind to delve into the waters of both polyamory and power exchange, with many essays from those who have experienced navigating the intersections and stigmas faced by both lifestyles.

📚 Axis of Empire Reading Group w/Schedule! 🗓️

North Star Cooperative, with Veterans For Peace - San Diego, About Face - San Diego, and the Degenderettes, are putting on a reading group with the new book “Axis of Empire: A History of Iran–US Relations”. It covers the last 200 years of history between the US and Iran.

This book is so important given the war on Iran, we all need to study together to understand why the US is constantly targeting this country and how we can resist this war of aggression against the Iranian people.

Our Reading group will have 4 sessions, each on a Friday:

- August 21st at 6pm-7:30
- August 28th at 6pm-7:30
- September 11th at 6pm-7:30
- September 18th at 6pm-7:30

We will meet at the San Diego Liberation Center (810 L Ave, National City)

North Star Cooperative is putting on a reading group on the new book “Axis of Empire: A History of Iran–US Relations”. It covers the last 200 years of history between the US and Iran.

Its a book that really challenges the common narratives about the relationship between Iran and the US, and the attempts by the US to dominate Iran.

Join us on Tuesday, August 4th at 6pm in Mujeres Brew House for a reading and discussion of the updated and expanded 20th Anniversary Edition of Under the Perfect Sun: The San Diego Tourists Never See, as well as Beyond the Theme Park: Struggle and Solidarity Under the San Diego Sun, with authors Kelly Mayhew and Jim Miller!

We're joined by San Diego Community Wealth Building Coalition, Tierras Indígenas Community Land Trust, Libélula Books, and Hey Books!, to explore lessons from San Diego’s past, imagine its future, and discuss the role organizers and activists can play in building a more democratic and equitable city for all San Diegans. While community-led efforts have transformed San Diego over the past several decades for the better, important challenges remain and battles are yet to be won. Come be part of the conversation and connect with others working to create a more democratic, just, and equitable San Diego.

North Star’s second bookstore pop-up will be on Saturday, July 25th, 10am-6pm, in Embarcadero Marina Park!

Comic-Con Weekend is always a great time to walk around the Marina and enjoy the cosplays, but this year, also make sure to check out the left-wing books at our our very own “Commie-Con” 🚩 ☭

We’ll be on the grass behind Malibu Farm in Seaport Village. Look for our purple canopy and tables! See you there!
