It’s and today we’re featuring grantee, Delta Learning Center, located in Contra Costa County, California.

Delta Learning Center delivers high-quality tutoring services at an affordable rate, making educational support accessible to students and families throughout the Contra Costa County community. To help reduce operating expenses and increase energy resilience, the organization installed an 8.17kW solar energy system paired with a 12.1kWh battery storage system.

The project was made possible through support from the Rotary Club of Cupertino, Rotary Club of Oakland, Delta Learning Center and the Solar Moonshot Program. We provided a $41,047 bridge loan for the federal tax credit, and our partner BQuest Foundation provided a $4,000 grant to help bring the project to life.

By lowering electricity costs and providing backup power capabilities, this solar and storage project will help Delta Learning Center direct more resources toward its educational mission while reducing its environmental footprint. It also provides clean energy education while reducing impacts of the climate crisis.

It’s and today we’re featuring grantee, Southern Bluffs Elementary School, located in La Crosse, Wisconsin. A 149 kW rooftop solar array is powering the largest school solar installation in the School District of La Crosse to date! The project is reducing energy costs, providing hands-on learning opportunities for students and helping advance the district’s commitment to sustainability.

Southern Bluffs is part of a growing portfolio of clean energy projects in the School District of La Crosse. We are proud that our Solar Moonshot Program has supported multiple solar installations throughout the district and many more nonprofit solar projects across Wisconsin, thanks to our generous funders.

The solar project is reducing electricity costs that are being redirected toward educational priorities while providing clean energy education and helping reduce the impacts of the climate crisis.

One week. Three disasters. One warning.

With so many alarming headlines these days, you may have missed that in a single week, Southern California faced devastating wildfires, coastal oil contamination and hazardous chemical emergencies.

While each incident has different causes, together they tell a larger story: our communities are increasingly vulnerable to environmental disasters that threaten our health, safety and future.

As climate change fuels more extreme weather and aging fossil fuel infrastructure continues to put people and ecosystems at risk, the costs are becoming impossible to ignore. Families are displaced by fires. Wildlife and coastlines are harmed by oil pollution. Communities are forced to evacuate due to industrial chemical hazards.

These events remind us that the transition away from fossil fuels isn't just about reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It's about protecting public health, preventing pollution, strengthening community resilience and reducing the risks that come with extracting, transporting and processing fossil fuels.

We must accelerate the transition to clean energy while investing in safe environments, healthy communities and solutions that address longstanding environmental injustices. Creating a more just and livable future for all depends on it.

It’s and today we’re featuring our grantee, Children’s Education Fund in Chico, California. The 38-year-old nonprofit works to expand educational opportunities and support for children and families, helping create healthier and more resilient communities for future generations.

“The Children’s Education Fund Inc. Board is so grateful for the Solar Moonshot Program funding assistance, which has helped us build resiliency in our underserved community,” said Dawn Selene, Board President of Children’s Education Fund. Our Solar Moonshot Program grant was supported by a $20,000 contribution from an anonymous donor interested in supporting youth educational opportunities.

The solar project is reducing electricity costs that are being reinvested into the Children’s Education Fund mission while providing clean energy education and helping reduce the impacts of the climate crisis.

This isn’t “early fire season” anymore. It’s the new climate reality, and devastating communities in numerous ways.

Hotter temperatures, prolonged drought, dry vegetation and stronger wind events are creating conditions for larger, faster and more destructive fires year-round. California communities are paying the price — especially low-income families (many of which live near freeways), older adults and people with chronic health conditions who face the greatest risks from smoke, toxins from burned plastic, displacement and extreme heat.

Climate change is a public health crisis. And this primary season, climate is on the ballot. The decisions voters make — from local leadership to statewide policy — will shape how we prepare for climate disasters, protect public health and invest in resilient communities.

Health equity means climate resilience:
• Cleaner air and safer housing
• Emergency preparedness for Communities of Concern
• Investments in prevention and climate-smart infrastructure
• Policies that protect health before disaster strikes

While fire season can be frightening, there are actions we can take right now to reduce the impacts of the climate crisis — by investing in clean energy, resilient infrastructure, emergency preparedness and policies that protect the health of our communities.

A mosque shooting in our own backyard is a devastating reminder that hate and racism continue to fuel violence in our communities.

San Diego is home to a beautiful, diverse community made stronger by people of different faiths, cultures and backgrounds. That diversity should be protected, celebrated and uplifted.

No one should fear for their safety because of their faith, race or identity. We must confront Islamophobia, racism and hate wherever they appear — online, in our institutions and in our neighborhoods.

Statements of sympathy, even from elected officials, are not enough. Our communities deserve sustained action to address the systems, conditions, and rhetoric that enable this violence to continue.

We are holding the Muslim community in our hearts and standing in solidarity with all those impacted. If you’re looking for ways to support victims, survivors and the broader Muslim community, please consider attending a vigil, connecting with an Islamic Center in your local community or donating to the following funds being raised to support the families of the victims: Amin Abdullah, Nader Awad and Mansour Kaziha (Abul Iz).

Join the community tonight for an interfaith vigil at Lindbergh Neighborhood Park at 6:30 p.m. as our community comes together in solidarity, healing and collective care.

We stand with the Muslim community today and every day. We mourn with those impacted and recommit ourselves to building a future grounded in justice, compassion and collective well-being.

It’s and today we’re featuring our grantee, the Seneca Nation Faithkeepers School. The Seneca are one of the six Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) nations and are an Indigenous people native to what is now western New York and parts of Canada. The school operates as a Seneca Language Nest, merging traditional Gaiwi:yo teachings with standard Montessori academics.

“We appreciate the financial support provided by the Hammond Climate Solutions Foundation and the Solar Moonshot Program in making this 43kW solar array a reality. The solar array was installed at the Faithkeepers School, which teaches Seneca youth and has a mission of fostering independent, confident, and socially responsible citizens who are exposed to the traditional teachings of Gaiwi:yo and the traditions of the Seneca people. This building uses a lot of electricity, and this array will help keep expenses down so that we can dedicate more resources to our children and their activities.”

The Tribe reported interest in solar for energy resilience, and clean energy is one way to help care for the Earth and its inhabitants.

We want to give a big thanks to our Spring 2026 interns from San Diego State University: Clara Truong, an Information Systems master’s student, and Ilaria Rosetto, an Environmental Science major who recently completed her sophomore year.

It was a privilege to mentor these emerging climate leaders, and we are excited to see what the future holds for them in the climate space. We deeply appreciate the time, energy and passion they brought to our foundation this semester, and we look forward to watching their climate careers take off.

We will open our fall internship opportunity this summer.
