🏀 DID HE CARRY? NOPE.

But I already know some of y’all are about to disagree. 😂

This is why understanding how to control and manipulate the basketball matters.

There’s a difference between carrying the ball and being able to change pace, direction, rhythm and hand position while keeping the dribble alive.

We don’t teach players a bunch of “moves” to memorize.

We build the footwork, ball control, rhythm and understanding that gives them the freedom to react to whatever the defender gives them.

🚨 WHO’S CALLING TRAVEL ON THESE?

Footwork is one of the most misunderstood parts of basketball.

Just because it looks different…
Just because you haven’t been taught it…
Just because you had to watch it twice…

Doesn’t automatically make it a travel.

The question is simple:

When did the player establish control?
What happened on the gather?
Which foot became the pivot?
And what happened AFTER that?

Don’t judge the move by how it looks.

Understand the footwork.

Except the PROCESS that got them there.

The early mornings. The repetition. The coaching. The discipline. The failures. The sacrifice. The patience.

Everybody wants the results, but too many players and families still believe their own unproven plan is somehow the better route.

If you admire where someone ended up, study how they got there.

Stop following the image and start following the process.

WE DON’T TEACH MOVES. WE BUILD PLAYERS.

Basketball doesn’t tell you what’s coming next.

The defender moves.
The angle changes.
The gap opens.
The help comes.

You have to REACT.

That’s why our training isn’t built around memorizing a bunch of moves and trying to force them into a game.

We build the foundation — footwork, balance, ball control, pace, rhythm, change of direction, body positioning and the ability to manipulate space.

Then we challenge you to read it, feel it and react.

Because the goal isn’t to make you look good in a workout.

The goal is to make you BETTER AT BASKETBALL.

Stop collecting moves.
Start building a game.

2026/2027 — IT’S ALMOST TIME. ⚔️🏀

New season. New group. Same standard.

The jerseys will have different names. The staff continues to pour into the program. But when we step on the floor, there’s only ONE name that matters — SAN DIEGO CITY COLLEGE.

This season is about competing for each other, representing the name across our chest, and continuing to build on the standard that has been established before us.

Nothing is given.
Everything is earned.

The work starts long before the lights come on.

PRESSURE.

Anybody can have a handle when nobody is trying to take the ball.

Now shrink the space.
Add another defender.
Take away the escape routes.
Make them reach, bump, trap and crowd you.

Can you STILL keep your dribble?
Can you STILL see the floor?
Can you STILL make the right decision?

That’s why we call this drill PRESSURE.

We’re not training moves. We’re training ball security, body positioning, decision-making and composure when the game gets uncomfortable.

Because your handle isn’t really tested until somebody is trying to take it from you.

Work Ethic Basketball is headed to Argentina December 3rd–9th, 2026 for a week of Coaches Clinics & Player Development.

This is bigger than basketball. It’s about sharing knowledge, developing players, connecting coaches, building relationships, and taking the Work Ethic mentality across borders.

Different country. Different culture. Same standard. Same commitment to the WORK.
