Comparing ourselves to others is never wise — Paul makes this clear in 2 Corinthians 10:12. He also teaches that commending ourselves is not how things work in the Kingdom of God. Instead, Scripture tells us to let others commend us, not to promote ourselves (Prov 27:2).

This reminds me of the rich young ruler who came to Jesus commending about his own good works, saying, “I have kept all these commandments since my youth,” (Mat 19:16).
His self-commendation revealed a heart that trusted in his own efforts rather than in humble dependence on the LORD.
That’s why it’s often better to avoid talking about ourselves. Even sharing our accomplishments can easily slip into self-commendation.

In God’s Kingdom, we are called to humility — letting our fruit, our character, and the testimony of others speak for us.

Of course, in the world’s system it is completely the opposite . In job interviews and professional settings, you have to “sell yourself” and highlight your strengths — that’s simply how the world functions. But in the Kingdom of God, the way is the opposite: we walk in humility, not self-promotion.
