Congratulations to Megan Burkes on the successful completion of Class 6 of the Social Venture Partners San Antonio Fellowship! 🎉

As Executive Director of I Care San Antonio, Megan has brought thoughtful leadership, collaboration, and a strong commitment to community impact throughout this Fellowship experience. Her work reflects a deep dedication to serving others while helping strengthen the nonprofit sector across San Antonio.

Throughout Class 6, Megan consistently demonstrated a relationship-centered approach to leadership — bringing people together, encouraging meaningful dialogue, and contributing valuable insight to conversations around nonprofit growth, sustainability, and service. Her passion for mission-driven work and community engagement made her an important part of this year’s cohort.

The SVPSA Fellowship is designed to strengthen nonprofit leaders through professional development, peer learning, and capacity-building, and Megan fully embraced that experience. Her willingness to collaborate, share knowledge, and support fellow leaders embodies the spirit of the Fellowship.

Megan, congratulations again on completing the SVP San Antonio Fellowship Class 6. We are grateful for the leadership and perspective you brought to this cohort and look forward to seeing your continued impact throughout our community.

When nonprofit leaders have access to the right expertise, the impact goes far beyond one completed project.

Through the SVPSA Catchafire program, Ma Hila’s Heart has saved an estimated $54,662 through 15 completed projects and calls — gaining support in areas like website strategy, marketing strategy, social media content planning, data and analytics, keyword research, Google Ads, website usability, website setup, and visual design.

That is what capacity-building looks like in action.

For a nonprofit, this kind of support can mean stronger systems, clearer messaging, better digital presence, and more time to focus on the mission: serving families and communities with care, compassion, and purpose.

SVPSA is proud to help connect local nonprofits with skilled volunteers who bring their professional talent to the table — helping organizations move important projects forward without carrying the full financial burden alone.

Because when nonprofits save resources, they can reinvest more into the people they serve.

This is giving better together.

Grant opportunities can become growth opportunities.

The San Antonio Area Foundation has outlined its 2026 grant opportunities for local nonprofits, including funding areas such as Cultural Vibrancy, Livable and Resilient Communities, Successful Aging, Youth Success, and Animal Services.

For nonprofit leaders, this is a timely reminder to start preparing now. Strong applications are not built at the last minute — they come from clear impact stories, strong data, aligned programming, and a deep understanding of community need.

At Social Venture Partners San Antonio, we believe funding is only one part of nonprofit growth. When organizations have access to resources, relationships, strategy, and capacity-building support, they are better positioned to serve more people and strengthen our community.

Local nonprofits: review the open opportunities, check your eligibility, and begin gathering what you need to submit with confidence.

Skilled volunteers are helping San Antonio nonprofits do more than check projects off a list — they are helping organizations build the capacity to grow, serve, and sustain their missions.

Through SVPSA’s Catchafire partnership, local nonprofits are gaining access to professional support that strengthens the work behind the work: strategy, systems, communications, planning, technology, and more.

The impact is real:

✨ 131 local nonprofits supported
✨ $119K in value created in March
✨ Hundreds of volunteer hours contributed

This is what happens when talent meets purpose.

At Social Venture Partners San Antonio, we believe capacity-building is community-building. When nonprofits have the support they need, they can focus more deeply on the people, families, and communities they serve.

Together, we are helping nonprofits get critical work done — and building a stronger San Antonio in the process.

San Antonio Junior Forum opens nonprofit grant opportunities

The San Antonio Junior Forum is accepting grant applications for nonprofits serving the San Antonio region. In its previous grant cycle, the organization distributed $75,000 to 14 local nonprofits, supporting projects that benefit economically, emotionally, or physically disadvantaged individuals.

Grant opportunities like this matter because they help local nonprofits move from “we have an idea” to “we have the resources to serve.”

For small and mid-sized nonprofits especially, local funding can be the difference between maintaining a program and expanding its reach.

Strong communities are built when generosity is organized, intentional, and rooted in local need.

We believe every community has untapped potential — in its leaders, nonprofits, businesses, and everyday people who want to do good in a bigger way.

SVPSA brings together people who are ready to give more than a check. Our partners give their time, talent, treasure, and expertise to help nonprofits strengthen their capacity, grow sustainably, and deepen their impact.

When we invest in people and organizations, we invest in a stronger San Antonio.

Because all we see is potential.
