Meet Valerie Reiffert, a member of SVP San Antonio Fellowship Class 7! 💙🧡

A San Antonio native, community leader, and advocate for civic engagement, Valerie serves as Co-Founder and Executive Director of Radical Registrars.

Radical Registrars is a grassroots, nonpartisan nonprofit focused on voter registration and civic education, particularly among young people, communities of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and people impacted by the justice system.

Valerie's work reflects a commitment to helping more community members understand the democratic process and access opportunities to participate in elections.

Through her leadership, she contributes to conversations about civic education, community engagement, and the importance of making participation more accessible.

As a member of the SVP San Antonio Fellowship Class 7, Valerie joins a diverse group of nonprofit leaders committed to learning, strengthening their organizations, and building meaningful relationships across our community.

There are some moments that remind you why the work matters.

SVP San Antonio’s 10th Anniversary Celebration was one of those moments.

On September 29, the room was filled with people who have shaped this story from the very beginning — founders, Partners, nonprofit leaders, volunteers, sponsors, friends, and community champions who believe San Antonio is stronger when we give together.

We were honored to hear from our three visionary founders as they reflected on the early conversations, ideas, and inspiration that helped launch Social Venture Partners San Antonio. They shared how SVP Austin and the book *Can’t Not Do* helped them imagine what was possible here — not just another organization, but a movement of people willing to invest their time, talent, treasure, and trust in nonprofit leaders.

Ten years later, that vision has touched so many lives.

Together, this community has supported 120 nonprofits through the Fellowship for nonprofit executives. Together, we have helped fund access to an online volunteering platform that has delivered more than $5.5 million in pro bono services to 170 nonprofits since 2020.

And together, at our largest event yet, we raised approximately $40,000 that will continue supporting meaningful work in our community.

But the real story is not only in the numbers.

It is in the hugs, the memories, the shared meals, the relationships, the leaders who keep showing up, and the nonprofits that are stronger because someone chose to walk alongside them.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of these first 10 years.

Our story is still being written — and we are so grateful to write the next chapter together.

Meet Aaron Heatherly, Operations Director at New Braunfels Youth Collaborative and a member of SVP San Antonio Fellowship Class 7.

Aaron brings more than a decade of experience across financial services, ministry, and nonprofit leadership. In his current role, he helps turn organizational priorities into dependable ex*****on by strengthening operations, coordinating projects and facilities, stewarding resources, and equipping teams to serve young people with purpose and impact.

His leadership reflects a strong balance of people, systems, and impact. Aaron understands that meaningful community work depends not only on vision, but also on the structure, consistency, and operational discipline needed to move that vision forward.

As part of Class 7, Aaron joins a cohort of nonprofit leaders committed to learning, collaboration, and building stronger organizations throughout our region.

Welcome, Fellowship Class 7!
This past Wednesday marked the beginning of a new Fellowship journey as we welcomed an incredible group of nonprofit leaders to the SVP San Antonio family.
Our first session focused on Connection, Commitment & Clarity—creating a strong foundation for the months of learning, collaboration, and relationship-building ahead.
A special thank you to our speakers and facilitators who helped make our first day meaningful, including Leslie Chasnoff, Arlene Siller, and Debi Pfitzenmaier. From strengthening your pitch and understanding your nonprofit ecosystem to connecting Fellows with Catchafire, Class 7 started with practical conversations and resources they can carry back to their organizations.
Most importantly, we celebrate our Class 7 Fellows. Each leader brings a different mission, perspective, and area of expertise to the room—and together, they represent organizations doing important work throughout our community.

Lisa Friel’s story is a beautiful example of what it means to be an engaged SVP San Antonio Partner.
From SVPSA’s earliest days, Lisa saw the power of bringing professional experience, thoughtful questions, and community relationships to the nonprofit sector. Her work with SVPSA began with reviewing nonprofit applications and helping assess organizations through a practical, mission-focused lens — looking at financial practices, governance, growth plans, and long-term potential.
