Alamo Battalion Cadets had a unique opportunity to witness history firsthand as they attended Houston’s inaugural Fleet Week, a milestone event that brought the traditions and operations of the U.S. sea services to the city for the first time. For many cadets, the highlight of the visit was touring the USS Kearsarge. In addition to the ship tour, cadets attended the Fleet Week Navy Expo, which featured hands-on exhibits, demonstrations, and simulations that illustrated the diverse roles within the Navy.

Alamo Battalion extends its sincere thanks to SST for generously allowing the use of their campus, which helped make this memorable experience possible.

Our March Drill weekend took us to training at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston with the 502nd Fort Sam Houston's Equestrian Center, where the focus was on the fundamentals of horsemanship. It’s not every day you swap boots for stirrups, and seeing our cadets step out of their comfort zones was the highlight of the day. For many cadets, it was their first time in the saddle!

Learning to lead is about more than just drills; it’s about communication and trust. Cadets worked in teams to guide and ride, meaning they didn't just have to trust the animal—they had to trust each other.

A huge shoutout to the 502nd for teaching us the ropes (and reins!) of horsemanship.
