Rock climbing. Horseback riding. Archery. Arts and crafts. A whole weekend of families laughing, playing, and being together at Morgan's Camp.

That's Camp Firefly. It's also a weekend for families who have lost a child to cancer, which means it's a place where a child's name gets said out loud, where photos come out, and where joy and grief sit at the same table. Families tell us that's exactly why they come back.

We're looking for volunteers for September 11–13, Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. You'll spend the full weekend alongside one family, doing camp with them. You don't need grief experience or the right words. You need to be willing to hear a child's name, sit with the hard moments, and still show up for the fun ones.

Volunteers must be 20+ and pass a background check. Applications are reviewed by our team.

It's only been 4 days since we left Texas Lion's Camp Saturday morning, and we already miss it. The songs, the laughter, the fun echoing across camp — Camp Discovery 2026 went by way too fast, and these photos have us counting down to next summer already.

Camp is a family, not a place. 💛

July 16th Update: Rainy morning, high spirits ☔

We're high and dry, safe and sound, and having a fabulous time on our rainy-day plans here at Camp Discovery. And through it all, our amazing medical team hasn't missed a beat — not a single med has been missed. Dr. Maria Falcon-Cantrill along with our medical team are braving the elements to make sure every camper gets their medicines right on time, every time. 💛

Everyone at Camp Discovery is safe and accounted for.

The continued rain has brought flooding to the lower regions of Kerrville and surrounding towns, with road closures across the area.

Our location sits very high above the river and continues to provide strong protection for main camp, and all cabins. We have maintained power throughout the rain this week and are fully prepared should conditions change, with backup generators ready.

At this time, travel to the area is not safe. In accordance with our Emergency Action Plan, our campers and staff are safe and secure on high ground, and we will keep everyone in the safest available position as conditions develop. We also have ample food and essential supplies on hand to care for everyone at camp for as long as needed.

Texas Lions Camp, our host site is in regular contact with the Office of Emergency Management, and we are actively monitoring weather as our teams meet and coordinate plans. We will continue to communicate with families throughout the day.

In 5 days, the buses roll toward Kerrville and Camp Discovery 2026 begins.

A whole week where kids facing cancer get to just be kids — cabins, canoes, campfires, and a couple hundred people who get it.

The countdown is on. 🏕️

Right now, our ARCH crew is in Florida... and they're not on vacation. ☀️

They're at Give Kids the World Village, serving meals, bussing tables, running the carousel, and helping wish families have the kind of week they'll never forget.

ARCH takes former campers and flips the whole experience: from "camp is about me" to "camp is for the camper." It's where our future Camp Discovery counselors are made. 💛

These are the kids who grew up facing cancer alongside us — now showing up to serve the next family in line.
