Zeta Amicae of San Antonio wears orange to bring awareness to Teen Dating Violence Awareness.

Teen dating violence can take place in person, online, or through technology. It is a type of intimate partner violence (IPV) that includes four forms of violence that can occur within the dating relationships of adolescents and young adults:

🔸 Physical violence: the intentional use of physical force, which includes hitting, pushing, shoving, grabbing, restraining, or using strength against someone.

🔸 Sexual violence: forcing someone to take part in a sexual act (e.g., kissing, touching, sexual in*******se) or a non-physical sexual event (e.g., sexting) when the person does not or cannot consent.

🔸 Psychological aggression: the use of verbal and non-verbal communication with the intent to cause mental or emotional harm, or exert control over someone.

🔸 Stalking: a pattern of repeated, unwanted attention and contact that causes fear or concern for one’s own safety or the safety of someone else (e.g., family member, close friend).

February 7th is National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated reaffirms its commitment to education, advocacy, and community empowerment surrounding HIV/AIDS, particularly as it impacts women and families in black communities.

While progress for treatment and cures continue, systemic barriers such as racism, discrimination, and mistrust in healthcare also continue to limit access to prevention, testing, and treatment services in our communities. Guided by the Power of S.H.E., Zeta remains unwavering in its commitment to dismantling stigma, correcting misinformation, and advancing health equity in our communities.

Sisters, this work requires each of us to share trusted information and resources, host educational forums and clinics, engage in honest conversations with our youth, and meet people where they are with compassion and care.

The 2020 PBS Independent Lens documentary, “Belly of the Beast” central focus is the exposure of illegal sterilizations and modern-day eugenics targeting women of color in California prisons—but also sheds light on the realities of HIV/AIDS in prisons and the fight for justice, humane healthcare, and dignity for incarcerated people.

Watch. Learn. Advocate.

Our Zeta Amicae Goes Red in support of American Heart Month and to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death among women!

Together, we stand for heart health, education, and prevention — because every heartbeat matters. Let’s commit to healthier lifestyles, regular checkups, and spreading awareness in our communities.

❤️Women continue to be underrepresented in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields, as well as in research. In fact, women occupy nearly half of all U.S. jobs (48%), but only 27% of jobs in STEM fields. Furthermore, only 38% of participants in clinical cardiovascular trials are women.

02/06/2026

Every minute, a woman loses her life to cardiovascular disease, and heart disease remains the number one killer of women in the U.S., accounting for 35 percent of deaths globally.* These sobering facts sparked National Wear Red Day, an American Heart Association initiative observed each year on the first Friday in February to raise awareness and inspire action.

Did you know:

❤️Cardiovascular disease kills more women than all forms of cancer combined, and yet only 44% of women recognize that cardiovascular disease is their greatest health threat.

❤️Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of new moms and accounts for over one-third of maternal deaths. Black women have some of the highest maternal mortality rates.

❤️Going through menopause does not cause cardiovascular disease, but the approach of menopause marks a point in midlife when women’s cardiovascular risk factors can accelerate, making increased focus on
health during this pivotal life stage is crucial.

❤️Most cardiac and stroke events can be prevented through education and lifestyle changes, such as moving more, eating smart, and managing blood pressure.

❤️51.9% of high blood pressure deaths, otherwise known as hypertension or the “silent killer,” are in women, and out of all women, 57.6% of Black females have hypertension — more than any other race or ethnicity.

❤️While there are an estimated 4.1 million female stroke survivors living today, approximately 57.5% of total stroke deaths are in women.

You can take action by shopping at CVS Pharmacy and Big Lots during American Heart Month, where your purchases help raise funds and awareness for heart health.
