I am honored to begin my term as President of the Association of Texas Appraisers alongside this outstanding Board of Directors.

Each member brings valuable experience, perspective, and a shared commitment to supporting appraisers throughout Texas. Together, we will continue promoting education, professionalism, industry relationships, and meaningful advocacy for the appraisal profession.

As a working appraiser, I understand the changes and challenges our members are navigating. I look forward to listening, learning, and working with this Board to keep ATA a strong and practical resource for Texas appraisers.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and excited about what we can accomplish together!

Request for Comment TILA
Just so everyone is aware. The CFPB is asking for comment about disclosure rules, fee tolerances, etc.
https://www.consumerfinance.gov/.../request-for.../
Now is the time to comment on how the combined fee disclosure has been abused to deceive consumers, violate the first presumption of compliance in TILA 129E, and actively suppress appraiser compensation for the profession. This has led to many appraisers refusing to work for many AMCs and lenders as they aren’t looking at property complexity, designations, or expertise.
You can reference this business insider article regarding impact on consumers.

And
Two Active Lawsuits

https://unicourt.com/case/fl-br-caseby79b2be59f2fe-2290993
Regarding fee suppression you can reference the TAF white paper showing the average fee in 2010 was $400 and 2025-2026 is $425. A purchase power loss of $180 less per file when adjusted for inflation.

Both the 0% tolerance fee for appraisal fees being reported in loan disclosures and the combining of the AMC and Appraisal fee as a single line item need to be repealed. Those two measures have allowed AMCs and Lenders to control appraisal fees and created fee suppressions to a point that severely limits being able to train new appraisers.
