I wrote this last year - about 2 months before Matt’s stem cell transplant. We had just learned that Matt had relapsed and needed transplant. We didn’t “do” Christmas last year - no gifts, no dinners with family... This was a word I think God gave me for the season we were in at that time.
We are now 10 months post transplant and Matt is doing fabulous!!!
I hope this Christmas this message will bring peace to someone else!

Before it was a "silent night" it was probably one of Mary's worst days ever!
Imagine being nine months pregnant and having to travel almost 100 miles by foot (or on a donkey). I'm sure she wasn't happy about the timing of the census that caused her to be uprooted in the first place. Then once they arrived to Bethlehem there was no place for her to rest her weary body as she began her labor. So where did she give birth - in a barn! Have you ever spent any time in a barn? Let's just say this is not a clean place!!!
I bet Mary felt like God had set her up! After all He asked her to carry this child and she stepped out on faith to do so - against any fear - against any concerns about what was socially acceptable! Yet, there she was in her hour of need and it seemed as if EVERYTHING was going wrong!!!
But God was working out a miracle!!! You see, right as it seemed as though things could not get worse - that night turned into the most spectacular event in all of History! A night that was prophesied generations before and a night still celebrated more than 2000 years later!!!
Do you ever feel like you are having the worst day ever - or maybe your in a difficult season in your life...and your wondering why? Why me? Why now? Where is God in all this mess?
God loves you enough to send His son to die for your sins - He surely has NOT forgotten about you!!! God is working out your miracle!!!! Things are about to turn around!!! Be ready - God just might have a purpose for your pain - He just might be able to turn your mess into a message - He just might have a reason for this season!!!!
