is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to provide the programs and services needed to eliminate the killing of at-risk animals due to lack of space, adopter or foster. (SAPA!) began its life-saving work as a reaction, a reaction to a devastating situation in our backyard where thousands (19,458 in 2011 to be exact) of dogs and cats were killed at the City’s shelter. In 2011 SAPA! launched its model of pulling animals at the city shelter who were kenneled, awaiting euthanasia, to save their lives. Since then, SAPA! has saved 75,000+ dogs and cats lives. We save puppies with parvo, orphaned kittens too young to survive without a mother, dogs considered undesirable because of their size or physical characteristics as well as thousands more that have been hit by cars, are heartworm positive, or abandoned. People interested in adopting can view all of the dogs and cats available for adoption online at www.sanantoniopetsalive.org or visit any of our locations. Animal Care Services

How You Can Help:
1. Adopt, Foster, Rescue: The SAPA! model depends on finding placement for animals every day. Our most critical need is homes. Visit our Urgents & Adoptables Page for more information: facebook.com/sapaurgents. Learn more about fostering at sanantoniopetsalive.org/foster/
2. Donate: SAPA! is funded by gifts from donors, revenue from programs and services, and a contract with the city. We depend on gifts to save lives. Every dollar you give is a dollar we can use to save lives. Consider giving monthly and joining the ranks of our constant companions. Learn more now: https://www.sanantoniopetsalive.org/ways-to-give/donate-now/monthly-giving
3. Volunteer: Cages need cleaning, adopters need greeting, and events need staffing. Volunteers make all the difference at SAPA!, and we're always looking for more. Learn about volunteering at https://www.sanantoniopetsalive.org/programs/volunteer
Thank you!
