That's what Mercedes Bristol heard in the middle of raising five grandchildren alone, with no roadmap and no one who'd walked it before her.

New beds. New mattresses. A crib for the baby.

This family was walking through a hard season and needed somewhere safe for their kids to sleep. Northeast Bible Church showed up, delivered everything, and put it all together themselves.

The furniture mattered. But what mattered more: the kids helped make their own beds, the family welcomed prayer, and mom asked how to get connected to a local church.

This is what prevention looks like when relationships lead.

Don't suffer in silence.

On this week's episode, kinship caregiver Kizzie gets honest about the days it wasn't the resources she was short on, it was the emotional weight.

"Don't be afraid to say, I don't got it. There were days I called friends and just cried. Some of them didn't even give opinions, they just listened and let me get it out."

"We just figured it out."

On this week's episode, kinship caregiver Kizzie talks about the day her family said yes to raising four kids they weren't expecting, no beds, no extra car seats, no plan.

"We didn't even ask how long we would keep them. We were just like, we can take them. It didn't even dawn on us that we didn't have beds, or a car that fit everybody, we just figured it out."

This is what kinship care actually looks like. Not a plan. A yes, and then the work of catching up to it.

God is moving among the Church in our city.

In April, over 100 pastors and leaders gathered to talk about what it looks like for the Church to care for children and families impacted by foster care. It was powerful. It also showed how many are still missing from the room.

"You went into it for the child. And you ended up with the caseworker, the mom, the dad, the grandparents, the aunts and uncles that came attached to this child."

Jennifer tells this story about the moment she met the mother of the first little girl she fostered.

"You were this baby 20 years ago. This was the cycle nobody broke for you."

Josh and W sat down tonight, and it didn't start easy. W was reserved, carrying more than he let on.

But by the end, something shifted. W opened up. Josh spoke into his life. And the night closed with Josh praying over him.

This is what Don't Go Alone is about. Not fixing anyone. Just showing up, and staying.
