Rachel did not go in hoping to build a family.

She went in asking one question. Could I be the vessel he uses to make something whole out of something broken?

That was enough to start.

Last week, business leaders gathered at Chicken N Pickle and heard what it actually looks like when a company steps in for a family in crisis.

A business covered car repairs for a single mom escaping domestic violence. Others are hiring young adults who aged out of foster care with nowhere to turn.

Businesses that strengthen families change communities. And there are practical ways yours can be part of that before, during, and after the foster care crisis.

The door is still open.

Corinne has a message for us all this week: biological families aren't the bad guys.

She knows firsthand what it's like to pray for a mom who couldn't keep her—but still mattered deeply.

As we continue through Foster Care Awareness Month, we're focusing our prayers on parents working to reunify with their children.

Many are hurting.

Many are trying.

And they need our prayers more than our assumptions.

Join us in praying for strength, healing, and restored families.

This month, you can double your donation and impact for children and families impacted by the foster care system.

A generous sponsor is willing to match every recurring donation through the end of the year. Your $50 a month could become $100 a month.

She did not have a lot to bring to the table.

Just a willingness to show up. What God needs is not your readiness. It is your yes.

He takes it from there.

Children in our city are entering foster care every day. The Church can change that. But only if we show up.

114 pastors and ministry leaders from 66 churches across San Antonio came together to look honestly at the foster care crisis, hear how they are already making a difference, and decide how new congregation fits into the answer.

At our last gathering, a pastor heard an open request from the stage, was ready to act, and partnered with another pastor in the room whose church was closer. That church is now building a response team to walk alongside that family long-term.

That is what happens when leaders are in the room.

Tomorrow on Running Toward. 🎙

Rachel moved through every reason she shouldn't foster. Single. Limited income. No family nearby. She said yes anyway. Fifteen placements later, she has three adopted sons, a nonprofit she founded, and a church community that grew up around her.

She didn't wait until she was ready. She just kept saying yes.

Episode 18 drops tomorrow.

"It's ok to say no"

Susan started with one kid. That was all she could handle and she was firm on that.

Six kids later, she will tell you that saying no to more is what made room for everything that came after.

Not every child feels safe.

Not every child feels wanted.

Not every child feels seen.

This week, we're praying for children in foster care—that they would know they matter, that they are not forgotten, and that God would move people to stand in the gap for them.

Join Mike and the Alliance community in praying with purpose this Foster Care Awareness Month.

🚨 Episode 17 of Running Towards is now available

Susan did not have a village when she started. She had one friend next door and a lot of hope.

Six kids later, she will tell you the support system was not something she found. It was something she had to learn to ask for.

This is the kind of conversation we need more of.
