Texas Cavaliers River Parade

Join the thousands of enthusiastic spectators gathered on the banks of the San Antonio River!

As the most unique parade in the United States, it is one of the premier events each year during San Antonio's biggest celebration, Fiesta. The Texas Cavaliers is an organization of over 500 businesses, civic and community leaders that was founded in 1926 to preserve and promote the ideals for which the heroes of the Alamo died. Interestingly, it was also founded to promote horsemanship in a day when automobiles were becoming more abundant. Today its purpose also includes civic and charitable contributions.

100 Years of Stories

In 1929, King Antonio XI, Jack Beretta, helped spark a tradition that would become an important part of the Texas Cavaliers’ Fiesta legacy.

During his reign, King Antonio and his entourage made a visit to Santa Rosa Hospital to celebrate the birth of a fellow Cavalier’s son. While there, the sisters invited the group to visit the children’s ward. The warm reception inspired the Cavaliers to add visits to local orphanages to their Fiesta schedule.

What began as a spontaneous hospital visit became the precedent for the King’s Visits tradition, carrying the spirit of Fiesta beyond the parades and into the community. ❤️
