Join the thousands of enthusiastic spectators gathered on the banks of the San Antonio River!

As the most unique parade in the United States, it is one of the premier events each year during San Antonio's biggest celebration, Fiesta. The Texas Cavaliers is an organization of over 500 businesses, civic and community leaders that was founded in 1926 to preserve and promote the ideals for which the heroes of the Alamo died. Interestingly, it was also founded to promote horsemanship in a day w

hen automobiles were becoming more abundant. Today its purpose also includes civic and charitable contributions.

100 Years of Stories

Every Fiesta begins with a tradition rooted in history. Since 1927, King Antonio has taken his oath on the grounds of the Alamo, honoring those who fought for Texas before accepting the responsibility of serving San Antonio through leadership, tradition, and philanthropy. It's a reminder that our story begins with remembering those who came before us. 🎉

More than two decades after serving as King Antonio L###II, Sam Bell Steves II continues to be an important part of the Texas Cavaliers' story. Alongside generations of the Steves family, their dedication to the Cavaliers and the San Antonio community has helped shape a legacy that continues today.

💡 Fun Fact: When early River Parade barges were known to be a bit fragile, King Antonio XXIII George E. Friedrich stepped up and donated the King's Barge, a galvanized iron flagship that helped set a new standard for the fleet.

Actor, comedian, and philanthropist Will Rogers was named an honorary Texas Cavalier in 1931 after organizing and funding a series of charity shows in San Antonio, with all proceeds benefiting those in need.

Before motors powered the Texas Cavaliers River Parade, the first barges relied on members of the Sea Scouts who guided them through the San Antonio River using poles and oars. Their teamwork and dedication helped bring one of Fiesta's most beloved traditions to life. 🚣‍♂️
