Join the thousands of enthusiastic spectators gathered on the banks of the San Antonio River!

As the most unique parade in the United States, it is one of the premier events each year during San Antonio's biggest celebration, Fiesta. The Texas Cavaliers is an organization of over 500 businesses, civic and community leaders that was founded in 1926 to preserve and promote the ideals for which the heroes of the Alamo died. Interestingly, it was also founded to promote horsemanship in a day w

hen automobiles were becoming more abundant. Today its purpose also includes civic and charitable contributions.

100 Years of Stories.

Believe it or not, the early Texas Cavaliers uniforms looked a little different… think black tights and trunks.

When Sir Gerald Drought was next in line to become King Antonio, he had one request: new uniform. 👀 A group of Cavaliers met for lunch at the historic Menger Hotel, ditched the old look, and sketched out the military-style design that would inspire the iconic red and blue uniforms we know today.

100 Years of Stories.

In 1937, the Cavaliers found themselves just one degree away from real royalty. After abdicating the British throne for “the woman I love,” King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson quietly traveled through Texas on a private U.S. tour.
Who was chosen to chauffeur the former king through San Antonio and on to the legendary King Ranch? None other than King Antonio XIII, Bill King.

100 Years of Stories.

Did you know each River Parade barge weighs over 3,000 pounds? 👀
For decades, these floats have made their way down the San Antonio River, carefully maintained, repaired, and prepared by Cavaliers throughout the year. From transporting and assembling to making sure every detail is ready for parade night, it’s a true behind-the-scenes effort.

Carrying tradition, creativity, and community with them, each barge represents the work that happens long before the parade begins. Even in moments when the parade pauses, the legacy behind it never does.

100 Years of Stories.

The Texas Cavaliers Charitable Foundation didn’t happen overnight — it took the persistence of one Cavalier, Fred Middleton, who believed the organization had a greater responsibility to the community.

He described it as “the fulfillment of a community responsibility,” a vision that ultimately reshaped the Cavaliers’ long-term impact. Since it's inception in 1989, the Foundation has donated over $25 million to more than 200 charities.
